A prominent event of the past week was the marriage on Saturday last, November 10, 1917 Miss Lise Wilson McGalliard to Robert Snyder Vickers, which was celebrated at the home of the bride's parents, Dr. and Mrs. W. M. McGalliard, at twelve-thirty of the clock. Only a few relatives of the contracting parties were present to witness the ceremony, which was impresseively performed according to the Episcopal ritual by Rev. E. H. Prosser. The spacious drawing-room, where the improvised altar was arranged, was charmingly decorated with garlands of white tulie (sic), asparagus ferns, and a profusion of pot plants and cut flowers. At the appointed hour and to the strains of Mendelssohn's wedding march played in a faultless manner by a younger sisters, Miss Eunice McGalliard, the bride entered, leaning on the arm of her father, who gave her in marriage to the man of her choice. She was rarely lovely in a beautiful gown of nickle (sic) satin, with just a touch here and there of exquisite embroidery in rich colorings. Following the ceremony an informal luncheon was served, after which the bride changed her costume for a chic traveling suit of midnight blue serge with a hat to match and other accessories in keeping, and the happy pair left on the Texas & Pacific east-bound train for a brief honeymoon trip to New Orleans. The bride is a young woman of manifold accomplishments and charming personality, and has a large circle of friends who rejoice in her happiness and hope that the course of her path through life will always lead upward, over the sunlit hills of sweet contentment. Mr. Vickers is the efficient principal of the Donaldsonville High School, and during his several years' stay in our midst has, by reason of his sterling qualities and exalted ideals, won for himself a high place in the business and social circles of the community. The popularity of the happy pair was strikingly attested by the many handsome and costly gifts tendered them by admiring friends. Mr. and Mrs. Vickers returned from New Orleans Sunday evening and have gone to housekeeping in the attractive cottage in the Lemann Addition recently acquired by the groom. The warmest wishes of friends innumerable go out for a future of happiness and prosperity for the young couple.
