(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, September 12, 1908, page 3 BRAUD -- STEPHENSON An event of interest, owing to the social prominence of the contracting parties, was the marriage of H. Clay Braud, Jr., the handsome young son of Hon. H. C. Braud, of Burnside, and Miss Renie Stephenson, the lovely daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Stephenson, of Riverton plantation, which was solemnized in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends at the Burnside Chapel on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Quincy Ewing of Napoleonville officiating. Miss Rena Landry rendered the wedding march exquisitely as the bridal party entered the pretty little chapel, which was beautifully decorated for the occasion with mosses, palms, cut flowers and festoons of evergreens. The attendants were Miss Virgie Braud, sister of the groom, maid of honor; R. N. Siator, best man; Misses Marjorie Hanson and Rowena Boote, bridesmaids, and H. Vernon Sims and Claiborne Bel, ushers. After the ceremony the bridal party repaired to the spacious residence of the bride's parents, where a delightful reception was tendered the newly mated pair. Mr. and Mrs. Braud left on the afternoon Mississippi Valley train for Memphis, Tenn., from whence they will journey west for a stay several weeks. Upon their return they will make their home at Burnside, where the groom is assisting his father in the management of the Houmas Central store and in the performance of the thousand and one other duties which Mr. Braud is called upon to discharge in his capacity as representative at Burnside of the big Miles concern.
