Here he was born in 1856, the son of Joseph and Ann (Quanck) Dupaty, natives of France. The parents, believing that greater opportunities existed in the United States than in their own beloved France, bade farewell to the scenes of their Childhood, and sailed away to America. They landed in the year 1840. The father was editor and proprietor of the "Pioneer of Assumption," a weekly paper that is now owned and ably edited by Mrs. K Dupaty. Charles Dupaty, the uncle of the subject, represented the people of Assumption parish in the state legislature, where he faithfully and zealously sought to further their best interests. His death was deeply regretted by a wide acquaintance, which was not confined to the parish, but extended throughout the state. Mr. Dupaty was reared and educated in Napoleonville, and quite early in life embarked in. the hotel business. By nature he is well fitted for this exacting position, and has met with marked success. He is the owner of the Dupaty House, the leading hotel in the city, and he is also the proprietor of a saloon. In 1887 he was elected mayor of Napoleonville, and has discharged his duties with great credit and ability. He has used every effort to advance those movements which have had for their object the general welfare, and in this he has been ably seconded by a large and harmonious constituency. Mr. Dupaty was married, in 1885, to Miss Susan Young of this place. They are both members of the Roman Catholic church. Mr. Dupaty belongs to the Knights of Honor and the Knights of Pythias.
