LORET age 69, native of Assumption parish, died Saturday 3 Feb. at 10 a.m. She leaves five children: FERNAND, CLAIBORNE, Mrs. W. KINGTON, and Mrs. J. HANSON. She was the sister of Mrs. MARCELIN BOURG and Capt. MAX BLANCHARD. 24 Feb. 1900 Mrs. U. B. DUGAS, nee DELIA VIVES, the daughter of NUMA VIVES, died Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the age of 47 years 4 months. The funeral was Tuesday at the Assumption Church of Plattenville. She leaves her husband, two daughters, Mrs. LONGSHORE and Mrs. Dr. CHARLET, and a son, JOSEPH. She is also survived by her father, mother, brothers and sisters. PIERRE ADOLPH JUGE died Thursday at 11 p.m. at the age of 66 years and 8 months. The funeral is today, Saturday, at the Assumption Church at Plattenville. 10 Mar. 1900 F. A. LORET, a native of this parish, died on the 19th in Houston, Texas. He was buried in Patterson, Louisiana, his late home. EMILIE DUGAS, wife of FRANK HIDALGO, died at her home last Sunday morning at the age of 52 years, 11 months and 23 days. Her six brothers carried her to her resting place. She is also survived by her husband, children and sisters. 24 Mar. 1900 Mrs. ELLA BENTLY, of the Donaldsonville Chief, died last Sunday morning. She leaves her husband, a son and a daughter. ALCEE JUMONVILLE lost another child yesterday. 28 Apr. 1900 Mrs. FRANK KOCKRITZ, nee HANLON, died last Thursday at 5:45 a.m. at Napoleonville at the age of 61 years 7 months and 15 days. She was born in Waterford County, Ireland, and came to America at an early age. She married in 1872. Besides her husband, she leaves a son ALBERT, our assistant postmaster; a sister, Mrs. AMADEO MORREL of Napoleonville; and a brother, MORRIS HANLON, of Bayou Goula. 5 May 1900 THEODULE CHAUFFE, Jr., died at Rosedale Plantation, Wednesday, 25 Apr. at the age of 21 years and 8 months. The funeral was conducted by Father BOUCHET. 19 May 1900 ANDRE GRAZZIANI, a schoolteacher, and LEA AUCOIN, the niece of EDWARD AUCOIN, both of this parish, were married at the residence of the bride at Brule des Oliviers last Tuesday 26 May 1900 EMERAND SIMONEAUX died on May 13 at Sweet Home Plantation, the residence of his nephew, U. B. DUGAS. He was 82 years and 8 months; burial in Paincourtville. SIDNEY ALBANO of the canal, had his finger amputated yesterday while chopping a tree with a friend. 2 June 1900 RICHARD SPINNER, a former baker of this place, died last Monday at Morgan City. Miss BAZELISE POTHIER, age 64, died on May 27 at the residence of her brother, Judge A. POTHIER. She was buried in Plattenville. 23 June 1900 Last Wednesday at 8 o'clock at the Valenzuela Chapel in this parish, AUGUST S. BRAUD and CORINNE MAURIN, one of our teachers, were married. They will reside in Opelousas where he runs a drug store. FRANK BERGERON, age 20, committed suicide last Tuesday at Abby Plantation near Thibodaux. He was married about two weeks ago to a Miss ONCALE. 30 June 1900 WILLIAM FRIEDMAN welcomed a girl this week; LEO MARQUETTE had a boy this morning. Mrs. LAURA McCAULLY, nee WEST, age 32 years and 6 months, died at Bellewood Plantation. Her funeral was last Sunday at Christ Church. She was a niece of JAMES KENT of Assumption and THOMAS KENT of Lafourche. 14 July 1900 The widow of JOSEPH J. YOUNG, nee PAULY, mother of Mrs. S. DUPATY, died at her home at 3 p.m. The funeral is at St. Napoleon tomorrow. 2l July 1900 ELIAS PATTERSON was found dead in a well, last Thursday, a few miles above Napoleonville. JONATHAN TERRY was shot by ISAAH EVANS last Saturday on Locust Grove Plantation. CAMILLE ALLEMAN, the son of Judge S. L. ALLEMAN of Belle Alliance, and brother of SAM ALLEMAN, died 11:45 a. m. of typhoid fever and bronchial pneumonia. He was 5 years 4 months and 2 days old. Mrs. H. H. BERNUCHAUX, nee CARMELITE TRUXILLO, age 71 years 6 months and 12 days, died yesterday at her home in Klotzville. She leaves many children and grandchildren, one of whom is Judge H. JOE VERRET. KINEY ROBERTSON was found dead at Bayou Boeuf last Wednesday. A man named FRIOU surrendered to Sheriff TRICHE Wednesday. 28 July 1900 NUMA VIVES, born in Assumption Parish 72 years ago, died July 22. He was a member of the Legislature after the Civil War and in 1888 was appointed to the Police Jury. He leaves two sons: Dr. NUMA VIVES and JOHN L. VIVES; three daughters: Mrs. JNO. JUMONVILLE of New Orleans, Mrs. ST. BRIE VALENTON, and Mrs. ULYSSE B. DUGAS. Another daughter, Mrs. ULYSSE B. DUGAS preceded him to the grave a few months ago. He was buried at Plattenville. 4 Aug. 1900 Mrs. MARIE GAUTHREAUX of Brule Labadie was shot and killed yesterday morning by her former husband, LEON FAIVRE, from whom she had obtained a legal separation. Her 21-year-old son and her cousin, Mrs. EDOUARD OLIVIER, were there at the time. MAURICE LEVY was made happy by the birth of a girl last week. Mrs. THOMAS BOUDREAUX, age 23, died at her home on Henrietta Plantation in this parish. The funeral was last Tuesday at St. Napoleon. l8 Aug. 1900 LEON FAIVRE was found dead in Devil's Swamp near Schriever last Monday night. He was found dangling in a tree, having shot and hung himself. LEO BOUDREAUX's youngest baby died Thursday. 1 Sept. 1900 A negro who resisted arrest was shot and killed at Paincourtville last Saturday at 8 p.m. The baby boy of T. D. KENT, age 2 years 5 months and 7 days, died last Thursday. He was buried Friday at St. John Episcopal Cemetery. 15 Sept. 1900 EMILE ADOLPH'S 3-year old child died last Thursday at Attakapas Canal. 22 Sept. 1900 Mrs. MARIE LAUVE, nee DOMINIQUE, age 65 years and 8 months, died at the home of her son, PAUL SAMUEL LAUVE at Attakapas Canal, last Wednesday morning at 5 a.m. She was a teacher for 30 years. Mrs. GUSTAVE JUMONVILLE, age 64 years and 6 months, died last Saturday. The funeral was at St. Napoleon with burial at Plattenville. She leaves several children to mourn her. Miss MARIE ANGELE DELAUNE, the daughter of J. 0. DELAUNE, died last Saturday at her father's home. She was 17 years 1 month and 9 days old. The funeral was Sunday at St. Napoleon. The residence of ALVEE BERTHELOTTE, opposite the ferry at Paincourtville, was destroyed by fire last Saturday night. CHARLIE, the Chinaman, who has been running a laundry in our town for some time, will close up shop next Tuesday. SUPERVILLE LANDRY, formerly of this parish, will be married on the 26th instant to NETTIE BROUSSARD at St. Peter's Church in St. John Parish. OSCAR BERGERON's 1-year old child died last Wednesday. ARTHUR Z. BLANCHARD died Sept. 16. 29 Sept. 1900 MARIE HEBERT, the daughter of 0. B. HEBERT, is to marry T. S. EDMOND MATTINGLY of Lebanon, KY, on Oct. 10th (In issue of Oct. 13: They were married in Immaculate Conception Church of New Orleans.) The Heberts are but recently from Napoleonville and are residents on St. Charles Ave. (in New Orleans). They will make their home near Houma. (Times Democrat) 6 Oct. 1900 Col. ANATOLE JOSEPH LALANDE, born on Rosedale Plantation in this parish on 17 July 1838, died Saturday, 29th ult. at 10:20 p.m. He was buried at Assumption Church, Plattenville. He was the son of JOSEPH LALANDE of Versailles, France, and was a notary and recorder of this parish. When Joseph died, Col. W. W. PUGH became Anatole's tutor. After his schooling, Anatole lived with Dr. CHARLES MONNOT. He enlisted in the Orleans Guard Battery and served in the Army of Tennessee. He leaves three daughters: ALINE (Mrs. Dr. TRUXILLO), CLARA (Mrs. RIEHL), and IDA (Mrs. JOHN MARKS). LIZZIE BARKER, of Lockport, married ANDREW LARSON, of New Iberia, on 24 Sept. at St. Louis Catholic Church, New Orleans 20 Oct. 1900 SEVERIN J. BLANCHARD died at his home near Paincourtville on Oct. 19 at the age of 59 years and 11 months. He was a member of the Donaldsonville Artillery and twice sheriff of Assumption Parish. He was the husband of LORENZA LANDRY and father of one child, THOMAS A. BLANCHARD. Mrs. LEUFROY BLANCHARD, nee CLARA JOLLY, died at the residence of NEUVILLE BLANCHARD in Klotzville on Monday, Oct. 15, at 5 p.m. She was 26 years 8 months and 3 days old The funeral was the next day at Paincourtville. ALINE SOPHIE RIEHL, young daughter of AUGUST RIEHL and CLARA LALANDE, died Friday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m., at the home of her parents. She was born July 14, 1896. 27 Oct. 1900 OSCAR MARQUET died Monday at the age of 29 years and 8 months. He was a good husband and father. LEE WISE was shot, and killed by his wife at Bayou Boeuf last Sunday. NATHAN WEBSTER died at the plantation home of his son-in-law, Dr. FULTON ROGERS, in Ascension Parish on Sunday at 2 a.m. He was 92 years and 9 months of age. The funeral was at St. Napoleon Church. He was a native of Massachusetts but had come to Louisiana at an early age. He was married in this parish to CLARISSE TEMPLET, daughter of the late FLORENTIN TEMPLET, now deceased. His brothers-in-law, all deceased, were: HYPOLITE and CAMILLE TEMPLET, MARTIN MELANCON, Col. ANATOLE J. LALANDE. His daughters are Misses LOU and ESTELLE WEBSTER (both living with their sister, Mrs. ROGERS), Mrs. E. L. MONNOT, and Mrs. Dr. FULTON ROGERS; His sons included the late R. H. WEBSTER, and JOHN WEBSTER of Iberia Parish. JEROME T. WEIL of Weil, LA, is to marry LOUISE JULIA ASCHER, of Shreveport, on Nov 14. 10 Nov. 1900 WALTER LEJEUNE, formerly of this place, and CLARA CHRISTEN, daughter of JOHN CHRISTEN of West End, will marry Nov. 13 at St. Napoleon Church. BLAIR S. BERNARD, formerly of this parish and Pioneer "typo," is to marry AURELIA MAREAN, daughter of Dr. W. H. MAREAN, of Pensacola, FL. 17 Nov. 1900 A negro was shot and killed last Tuesday at Bellewood Plantation in a fight over a crap game. NEUVILLE BLANCHARD died last Saturday at the age of 75. There were four deaths reported this week on the Attakapas Canal from smallpox. 24 Nov. 1900 CORA MORING, of Chicago, and WALTER BARTON, of Ascension, were married last Wednesday at Christ Church. FERDINAND DELAUNE, age 77, died at his home opposite Chevretteville last Monday. The funeral was on Tuesday at St. Napoleon. The 13-year old daughter of the late EMILE BLANCHARD, of the Marais, died this week at the convent at Paincourtville. The funeral was at St. Philomena Church at Labadieville. 1 Dec. 1900 I. F. BERNUCHO, uncle of Judge H. JOE VERRET, died at his home opposite Klotzville last Monday. His funeral was on Tuesday. Mrs. MAGLOIRE BOURGEOIS, nee AZELIE HIMEL, died at her home in Albermarle. She was 76 years 8 months and 7 days of age. The funeral was Tuesday, Nov. 27th, at St. Philomena Church at Labadieville. She was the mother of ONEIL DELAUNE's first wife. 8 Dec. 1900 A letter to CECIL LYNN, overseer of Foley Plantation, dated Oct. 13, contained the news that "J. E. L LYNE, former resident of this parish, was shot and killed by a Mr. LUCAS in Nome, Alaska." 22 Dec. 1900 JOSEPH W. GILBERT, son of the late PIERRE J. GILBERT, died last Wednesday of galloping consumption. He was 25 years old. The funeral was Thursday at St. Napoleon Church. He was town treasurer and assistant postmaster. 29 Dec. 1900 ARTHUR BERGERON died of smallpox on Beasley place at Attakapas Canal last Wednesday. Mrs. LEONCE HIMEL, nee CORA TETE, died at her home yesterday. She was buried today at St. Philomena. 5 Jan. 1901 Mrs. CORA (TETE) HIMEL, daughter of the late Judge ALFRED TETE, died last Friday, Dec. 28, 1900. She was 35 years 5 months and 28 days of age, wife of LEONCE J. HIMEL; burial at St. Philomena. 12 Jan. 1901 Dr. ROBERT A. TRUXILLO, born 27 Oct. 1867, died Jan. 7 of smallpox at Nellie Plantation. JOSEPHINE FREY (daughter of PETER FREY of the Franklin House, Thibodaux) married LIONEL HORRIDGE on Thursday, Jan. 10, at her home. MARIE LAMBERT is to marry LOUIS EDGAR TOUPS on Thursday, Jan. 24, at St. Joseph Church in Thibodaux. PUGH celebrated his 90th anniversary (?birthday?) yesterday, 18 Jan. 1901. FELICIE PREJEAN is to marry HONORE AYRAUD on Thursday, Jan. 24, at Plattenville. 26 Jan. 1901 VALMONT TALBOT died Jan. 23 at his home on Attakapas Canal. The funeral was at the Canal Chapel (Immaculate Conception Chapel). The infant daughter of ROBERT BAKER died on Jan. 21. NORA M. DANTIN is to marry C. P. AUSLET on Jan. 30 at St. Joseph at Thibodaux. 2 Feb. 1901 MARY TERREBONNE married DENNIS LOPEZ at St. Napoleon Church last Tuesday, 29th ult. (Jan 29th). ERNEST M. BUSKELL, the young Englishman who has lived at Napoleonville for five years, left last Tuesday for London, his home, to stay. 16 Feb. 1901 MADEO BLANCHARD and LOUVENIA BERGERON, both of the Attakapas Canal, were married last Monday at the Catholic Church. AZENORE BOURG, age 72, died yesterday, Feb. 15, at his Napoleonville home. He was the father-in-law of FRANK BERGERON MALVINA GUELFO married S. D. GOODE last Thursday at St. Napoleon Church. 23 Feb. 1901 ALCEE JUMONVILLE died at his Paincourtville home last Monday. His funeral was at Paincourtville with burial at Donaldsonville. IDA LOUISE BAKER, born 16 May 1900, died Jan. 21. (She was the daughter of ROBERT BAKER.) 9 Mar. 1901 THEODULE CANCIENNE died last Sunday at home in Albermarle. He was buried in Plattenville. CAMILLE DELAUNE'S child died last Monday and was buried Friday at Labadieville. Pres. C. M. HAYES visited Napoleonville last Sunday by train and was at the depot for one-half of an hour. 23 Mar. 1901 The widow of JOSEPH C. GUEDRY, nee AIMEE HEBERT, died last Monday at her residence in Klotzville. She was 58 years 2 months and 21 days old. The funeral was at St. Elizabeth Church in Paincourtville. ARESTIDE DAIGLE died at Madewood Plantation last Sunday. St. Nicholls Camp U.C.V. was in charge of the funeral Monday at St. Napoleon Church. Burial was at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Paincourtville. Capt. A. BLANCHARD, of New Orleans but a native of Assumption, died in New Orleans last Wednesday. at 9 a.m. JEAN MOLEON BOURG, also a resident of New Orleans but native of Assumption, died this week in New Orleans. 30 Mar. 1901 Mrs. E. Mr. ANTOINE TRUXILLO, age 65 and unmarried, died at upper Assumption Parish on Wednesday morning. He was buried at Assumption Church in Plattenville on Thursday. PHIL H. GILBERT has a son born Thursday morning. The young son of DONVILLE AUCOIN died at his home near Plattenville on Tuesday. He was buried at Assumption Church on Wednesday. ANTHONY DALFERES, son of Hon. JOSEPH A. DALFERES, died on the eve of his graduation from St. Mary's College in Emmetsburg, MD. The attendants of the RODRIGUE wedding were: MARIE RODRIGUE, sister of the groom; CECILE DUGAS, cousin of the bride; Judge EDDIE GIANELLONI, brother of the bride; Judge H. JOE VERRET. 4 May 1901 WILBROD BLANCHARD committed suicide last Tuesday. He leaves his wife and five children. EDGAR HIMEL, of Tallieu, celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary last Wednesday. 11 May 1901 Father DE WILDE left last Sunday to visit his home in Belgium for three months. 25 May 1901 EVELINA BOUDREAUX, wife of THELESMA BOUDREAUX, died on Henrietta Plantation last Thursday, age 34 years 8 months 23 days. The funeral was yesterday at St. Napoleon Church. 22 June 1901 NUMA DELAUNE died yesterday at his home near Bertie. 6 July 1901 Dr. O. J. THIBODAUX had a girl born this week. Mrs. F. CELESTIN, the mother of his wife, is visiting them. FLORANGE VIALLON (Dr. VIALLON's daughter?) died. 13 July 1901 A girl was born to JAMES GILBERT yesterday. Mrs. ARMAS TRICHE, nee NOEMIE LEBLANC, age 55, died at her home near Napoleonville last Saturday. The funeral was Sunday at Plattenville. ARTHUR G. CHAFFE died at Shreveport last Wednesday. 20 July 1901 RALPH BEASLEY, age 50, died at Attakapas Canal last Saturday at 6 p.m. 27 July 1901 Major C. LAGARDE died July 22 at his home, Leighton Plantation. He was 73 years old, father-in-law of E. A. O'SULLIVAN, the former District Attorney. 3 Aug. 1901 The widow of BALTHASAR ALLEMAN, nee INEZ CAVALLIERO, age 89, died at her home, "Cosa Natural," in this parish on July 30. She was buried the next day at 5 p.m. at Assumption Church. She leaves two sons: PAUL and CAMILLE ALLEMAN; three daughters: Mmes. DENNIS TRUXILLO, CAMILLE CARMOUCHE, and RAPHAEL VEGAS. 10 Aug. 1901 VICTOR DORSEY, alias "Badger," was lynched at Crowley, La., the latter part of last month. He had murdered his wife 5 or 6 days before, at Freetown, by beating her over the head with a gun. 31 Aug. 1901 Jeanne RIVOIRE, daughter of F. C. RIVOIRE, had a birthday party yesterday on Levee Street. Theodore DELAUNE had twins born. Napoleon Pierre GUCHEREAU died recently at Breaux Bridge in St. Martin Parish, Attakapas. He was born in 1788, being 113 years old at his death. 7 Sept. 1901 Arthur LEBLANC, son of Alcee LEBLANC, of Klotzville, was shot yesterday at 10 p.m. by Mrs. Victor BETHELOTTE at Paincourtville. (He recovered.) Ellis COLLINS, age 15, drowned in the bayou near Little Texas landing last Saturday. 14 Sept. 1901 Aline FOLSE, wife of Dr. P. VIALLON, died at Bayou Goula on Sept. 10, 1901. Edward B. LEVEE, of New Orleans, Texas & Pacific Railroad, is to marry Daisy G. SHEPHERD, daughter of the late John T. SHEPHERD of Napoleonville, next Tuesday, the 17th instant at 12 a.m. at the Episcopal Church. They will reside in New Roads. 28 Sept. 1901 Dr. L. E. FLANAGAN, here for one year, leaves Oct. 1 for Philadelphia PA. 5 Oct. 1901 A. L. ROBERTSON, son of LYNCH ROBERTSON, married Eleanor CHAUFFE last Thursday at the home of the bride. Services by Fr. DE WILDE. Mrs. Tobias OHLMER died at her residence at Lake Verret on Sept. 27th. She was 75 years of age and mother of Mrs. John CHRISTEN of West End. 12 Oct. 1901 Mrs. Devillier BLANCHARD, nee Elizabeth LEBLANC, died at her home last Tuesday. Alvee BERTHELOTTE, age 48, died yesterday at his home in Paincourtville. 19 Oct. 1901 Adam TROSCLAIR, age 102, died at his home in Little Caillou in Terrebonne Parish last Saturday, Oct. 12. (Note: someone made an error in subtraction. He was about 88 years old.) Mrs. Marie LOISEAU, of Thibodaux, had her dress caught on fire and died shortly after. Mrs. W. E. MILLSAPS, nee Jeanne PORCHE, died last Thursday at Lafayette, age 25. 26 Oct. 1901 Frank Roland CHRISTIAN, son of John CHRISTIAN, died last Sunday at the age of 5 years. A colored woman, Jane, was hit by the Texan & Pacific train at Woodlawn last Tuesday. She was sent to (the hospital in) New Orleans the next day. Marie Ange Jules MARKS, son of the Hon. John MARKS, died on Sunday, Oct. 20. He was 4 years 3 months and 22 days old. This was their third son. Dr. Philip DANSEREAU, son of H. DANSEREAU, of Labadieville, married Olive COINTMENT, daughter of R. COINTMENT, this evening at St. Philomene. They are both natives of Napoleonville. George CUMMINGS, employed by A. S. DOLESE, was crossing a broken bridge when he fell and died the next day. 2 Nov. 1901 Nannie HOBSON married Alfred LANDRY last Tuesday at Donaldsonville. 9 Nov. 1901 Neil FOLSE fell into boiling juice on the plantation, of Ulysse DUGAS last Tuesday and died a few hours later. 16 Nov. 1901 A son was born to Abel LANDRY. A negro was locked in a corn crib for drunk and disorderly conduct in the Marrais settlement.
