Births: a son to WILLIE BERGERON of Little Texas. 17 Jan. 1903 U. B. DUGAS married Miss LIVAUDAIS last Tuesday in New Orleans. 24 Jan. 1903 Mrs. EDOUARD GUILLOT, age 66, of Plattenville, died last Sunday. The funeral was Tuesday at the Assumption Church. She leaves her husband and many children, one of whom is LEO GUILLOT of the Assumption Bank. A New Orleans newspaper announces the marriage of SUE GUION to E. M. JACKSON on the l7th instant. Mrs. A. V. LeBLANC celebrated her 20th birthday and 1st wedding anniversary last Tuesday. 14 Feb. 1903 Dr. HERBERT DOUGLAS of Morgan City died Saturday, Feb. 7th, in Pensacola, Florida. He was the brother of Mrs. U. B. BOWDEN. His wife died 2 years ago; he leaves 7 children. ANNETTE MONTET of the 3rd ward, daughter of the late ZEPHERIN MONTET, is to marry EDGARD DELAUNE, son of Mrs. ARSENE DELAUNE, on Feb. 19th. Invitation received to attend the wedding of EMILE J. DICHARRY, editor of the St. James Parish Interim. DOMINGUE FALCON, a veteran of the Mexican War and a resident of this parish for over 50 years, was found murdered in his home in Brule St. Vincent. His wife and 2 sons have been arrested. 28 Feb. 1903 Marriage of SUSIE GUION and EUGENE JACKSON announced. She is the sister of GEORGE GUION. 7 Mar. 1903 MARY PUGH, daughter of Dr. T. B. MARY ERKSTINE KOCK married HENRY GIBBS MORGAN, Jr. on Tuesday, April 28, 1903 at the residence of the bride's aunt, Mrs. GEORGE A. WILLIAMS. Rev. Dr. BEVERLY WARNER officiated. 9 May 1903 SOLOMON D. GOODE of Gibson died in Hammond last Monday. He married MALVINA GUELFO of Napoleonville about 3 years ago. His funeral was at St. Napoleon Church on Tuesday. He leaves a wife and 1 child. JULES CHARLET, age 81 years, died at the home of his brother, LUCIEN CHARLET of Klotzville, last Monday. The funeral was at St. Elizabeth Church in Paincourtville with burial in Plattenville. Besides Lucien, his other brothers are EUGENE and Capt. PIERRE CHARLET. EDWARD ARCENEAUX of Albermarle was shot by ALEXANDER DOLESE at the St. Thomas store on Tuesday night. Dolese has been jailed for the shooting. L. A. COLOMB, insurance agent at Donaldsonville, died last Wednesday in Hot Springs, Ark. He was the father of J. NUMA COLOMB. A daughter was born to JOHN PIERSON. 28 June 1903 ISAAC J. CLIFTON died at his home in upper Assumption last Tuesday. His funeral was Tuesday at St. Elizabeth in Paincourtville. ILSLEY BOUDREAUX married NORA MARQUETTE, daughter of KIEBER MARQUETTE, on Wednesday, June 25th, at St. Napoleon Church. In the 1860's ALPHONSE GENTIL, a lawyer, with his wife and 6 children and Miss LOUISE LOUIT, the sister of Mrs. GENTIL, lived in Napoleonville. In 1867 or '68 Mr. GENTIL died. Mrs. GENTIL, moved to New Orleans and then to the Island of Martinique, the birthplace of her fatherless children. They all died in the eruption of Mount Pelee at their residence at St. Pierre except the son RAOUL GENTIL and his wife who went to Morne Rouge. Nothing has been heard of a married daughter, Mrs. B. FORTIER who resided at Ilio Clerc, Island of Trinidad. A daughter, Miss ODILE GENTIL, an Ursuline nun in France, survives. ALMA WEIL, daughter of MOSES WEIL, had a birthday party last Tuesday. 1 Aug. 1903 A son was born to A. L. BLANCHARD last Tuesday. 8 Aug. 1903 RUDOLPH BERNUCHOT was found dead at Pierre Part 2 weeks ago. (LUSIGNAN BLANCHARD was found not guilty of his murder.) Births: a daughter to ROBERT LeBLANC; a daughter born last Friday to ALCEE HEBERT. 22 Aug. 1903 WILLIE CARRIER, brother of NICK CARRIER, married IDA BOUDREAUX, daughter of EMILE BOUDREAUX of (Attakapas) Canal, on Aug. 19th at St. Napoleon Church at 6 p.m. The wedding was attended by JOHN and ROSELA BOUDREAUX, brother and sister of the bride, and NICK CARRIER, brother of the groom. EUGENE ROGER of the Assumption Bank is to marry LISE DUGAS, daughter of CLAIBORNE DUGAS, on Sept 16th at St. Napoleon Church. GEORGE TOLIVER was run over by a locomotive on Locust Grove Pltn. He did not hear the whistle and bell. 29 Aug. 1903 CECILIA GARCIA, daughter of EMMANUEL GARCIA, married FRANK PEEBLES at the bride's home on Bayou Lafourche yesterday at 7 p.m. Rev. L. F. ALFORD officiated. (Donaldsonville Times) 5 Sept. 1903 CLARA BARTON, daughter of CARROLL BARTON, is to marry WHARTON GREEN, a Civil Engineer, on Sept. 15th at Christ Church in Napoleonville. His company has engaged him in building a bridge in England. The couple will lived there for a few months. Mrs. ALBERT RICHARD nee LeBRUN, of Jennings but formerly of Assumption, has been in Thibodaux for the last two months and on Monday gave birth to her 6th son, a 12- pounder. 12 Sept. 1903 Births: last night a daughter was born to ED. LANDRY; a daughter was born to FERDINAND LANDRY; a son was born to E. V. ROUTIER of Houma. 3 Oct. 1903 LEO DELAUNE married ELISKA FRYOU last Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Church in Paincourtville. Births: a son to CLAY ROGER last week; a son to LOUIS RODRIGUE of Belle Rose last week. ELFEGE MARTIN died 26 ultimo (previous month) in Napoleonville at the home of his brother-in-law, CASEMIRE BLANCHARD. He leaves a wife and 1 child. CORNELIUS HEBERT from Napoleonville married ALBERT A. GRAY on Sept. 24th in her home in Terrebonne Parish. GEDEON HEBERT, age 86 years, died at his home in Assumption. Mrs. E. N. PUGH, nee ELIZABETH HERNDON, a resident of Donaldsonville, died at Winchester Springs, Tennessee, on Sept. 28th. She was buried in Winchester Springs. She leaves a husband and 7 grown children. 10 Oct. 1903 Dr. J. I. McCONNEL died last Wednesday. He was a native of Georgia but lived in Napoleonville for 10 years. He was married to FLORENCE JONES who died one year ago. HIPPOLYTE UHRY will marry DORA KAHN, of Plaquemine, in New Orleans next Thursday at Rabbi HELLER's parlors. PAUL SCHEXNAILDER of Donner is to marry ESTELLE HIDALGO, daughter of F. HIDALGO of Foley Pltn., at St. Napoleon Church on Oct. 18th. 24 0ct. 1903 Birth: a daughter born Sunday (9th) to FRANCIS RODRIGUE. THEODORE DELAUNE age 2 years, son of T. J. DELAUNE, died Wednesday. MILTON WEIL is to marry BERTHA WEIL, daughter of ADOLPHE WEIL, on Nov. 18th at the Corde Opera House in Napoleonville. Rabbi KLEIN of Baton Rouge will officiate. The couple will live in New Orleans. The wedding will be in New Orleans at the Temple Sinai on Wednesday, Nov. 11th. CINNA ROUTIER of the Attakapas Canal left this week for a job in Arkansas. 7 Nov. 1903 A son was born last Sunday to L. Prof. BREITENMOSER of Napoleonville was granted a patent this week for the invention of a piano-violin combination. 28 Nov. 1903 A son was born Wednesday to VALENTINE GOETZ of Elm Hall Pltn. Miss SIMONEAUX, age 16, died at Church Pltn. this week. JOHN BURNS of Lake Charles was crushed to death last Saturday at a lower Terrebonne refinery. His body was sent to Lake Charles. 5 Dec. 1903 ROBERT, age 13, was shot to death by SOLOMON WHITE last Sunday night and buried on an island across from Belle River. Mrs. ANNA SCHRIEBER, age 79, merchant, died Wednesday Dec. 3rd at 3 a.m. Her children are Mrs. ERNEST L. GUILLOT, CHARLES SCHRIEBER, Mrs. CHARLES FISHER, Mrs. PAUL WUTKE and the late Mrs. HENRY OHLMEYER. RICHARDS, a house servant of C. C. BARTON of Little Texas Pltn., was stabbed to death by DOW on Wednesday. ... ANGELINA TETE - Children: The first wife of ALONZO R. MUNSON as well as his second; first and second wife of LEONCE J. HIMEL; Mrs. ALBERT FOLSE; Mrs. JOHN L. VIVES; Mrs. THOMAS FOLEY - all her daughters, and ALBERT TETE of Crowley, the only son. [ from TLL Vol 12 No 3 ] ANGELINA TETE died on Monday at Trinity Plantation. She was the widow of JUDGE ALFRED TETE and the daughter of EUGENE COMEAUX. MRS. TETE was 67 years and 7 months of age. HEBERT, from Napoleonville but for the last 3 years living in New Orleans, married ALICE M. LAUMAN, of Algiers, last week. DOMINIQUE ALLEMAN has his foot mangled at the Glenwood Refinery last Thursday. The foot later had to be amputated by Dr. F. ROGERS. DAVID R. BURNS married ANNIE ACOSTA, daughter of JOSEPH ACOSTA, last Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Canal Chapel. Her sister, ADDIE ACOSTA, was her attendant. 26 Dec. 1903 Mrs. LUDE, nee ANASTASIE RODRIGUE, age 80, residing at the home of ALCEE DELAUNE of Albermarle, fell last Sunday and broke her ribs. Dr. ROGERS has little hope for her recovery. (Editor's note: She was married to CAESAR NANETTI. She died at the home of Alcee F. Delaune on 1 Nov. 1907 at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 10 days, and was buried in Plattenville on 2 Nov. Her funeral was at St. Napoleon Church.) 9 Jan. 1904 NELLIE LALANDE, daughter of Mrs. A. J. and the late A. J. LALANDE, is to marry AUGUSTE E. TEMPLET that day (9th, Saturday) in the afternoon at Bay St. Louis. CHARLES BOUDREAUX purchased the plantation of Mrs. H. C. BLANCHARD. His son, TELESMA BOUDREAUX is in charge. 16 Jan. 1904 O. L. GUILLOT of Little Texas Store visited the Pioneer office yesterday. GROS and LANDRY, who were running the bakery at Labadieville, sold out to FELICIEN BOUDREAUX and OSCAR DUFRESNE. JULES WEIL, proprietor of Elm Hall Store, was married last Tuesday to Miss. BELLE BADD and returned with his bride yesterday. PHILIP BARBIER is to wed JEANNE LALANDE at Plattenville on Thursday Jan. 21st at 4 p.m. Mrs. OSCAR DUGAS left this morning to attend the funeral of her nephew JOHN LANE, age 28. He spent 2 months in Napoleonville before his death. Mrs. LUCILLE FRIEDMAN of New Orleans, former resident of Napoleonville, wife of WILLIE FRIEDMAN, died last Wednesday at the age of 26. LENA HIMEL, daughter of OSCAR HIMEL, was married this week to EDDIE CROSS, a planter, at her home. 23 Jan. 1904 FAUSTINE BLANCHARD, of Lower Texas, and OSCAR BERGERON, of Laura, were married Wednesday at St. Philomena Church in Labadieville. They will reside in Laura. A. J. PEDEUX, manager of PREJEAN & DEHEON Pltn. in upper Assumption, will marry on Jan. 27th EULALIE HEBERT, daughter of RUDOLPH HEBERT, of Belle Rose. THERESA DELAUNE, of Albermarle, married AMBROISE WHITENBERGER, of New Orleans, at St. Napoleon Church on Wednesday. 30 Jan. 1904 ONEZEPHORE BLANCHARD, overseer on Vives Pltn. in upper Assumption, died Sunday Jan. 24th at his home at the age of 42. He leaves his mother, wife and 7 children. Capt. J. F. AUCOIN died in Plattenville Thursday night. He was in the steamboat and flatboat business and had owned a sugar plantation opposite Plattenville which he recently sold to CHARLES BOUDREAUX. Succession Sale, Wednesday Mar. 2, 1904 of MALAINE LANDRY, the deceased widow of JOSEPH R. LANDRY. J. TEMPLE SHEPHERD of Napoleonville was married in New Orleans on the 14th instant (that month) to Mrs. LYDIA ROSE ELLINGTON of New Orleans. They will make their home in Alton, outside of New Orleans. The little daughter of MYRTILE TALBOT died last Sunday night. Mrs. Widow F. B. DICHARRY's daughter, EUGENIE DICHARRY, is to wed LEO DORNIER on Feb. 9th at St. Michael Church in Convent, LA. 6 Feb. 1904 Mrs. LEWELLYN PUGH died at the St. Charles Hotel in New Orleans on Jan. 27th of pneumonia. She had gone to celebrate Mardi Gras and died 10 days later. ULYSSE LANDRY, formerly a plantation manager at Raceland, will manage Woodlawn near Napoleonville which was formerly run by W. T. JONES, who is negotiating the purchase of NAQUIN & ROUSSEL plantation near Labadieville. OVILLE FALTERMAN of the Canal will marry on 10th instant AIDA BOURG of Albermarle at St. Napoleon Church. The reception will be at CAMILLE BREAUX's Friendship Hall on the Canal road. 13 Feb. 1904 Mrs. MARY E. FLOWER, widow of WILLIAM F. FLOWER and daughter of Col. W. W. PUGH, died Wednesday Feb. 10th at 10:30 p.m. She is survived by a son, WILLIAM P. FLOWER of Tallieu and a daughter, Mrs. FRANKLIN PUGH of New Orleans. Services were at Woodlawn Plantation. Miss ORELA LANDRY died Thursday near Plattenville. She was the sister of MAURICE LANDRY. The funeral was Friday at Plattenville. 20 Feb. 1904 ANTOINE ANCHORDOQUY died at Covington, LA on Wednesday. He was a native of France, coming to Napoleonville after the Civil War and worked as a blacksmith and wheelwright until 4 years ago. He leaves a wife, brother and adopted daughter. Mrs. ELPHEGE ACHEE nee GILLY died at Labadieville. Her death was omitted in the last issue. Her funeral was at St. Philomena Church. Ads WALLACE TRUXILLO, proprietor of DALFERES Store in Belle Alliance; ANDREW E. FOLSE, proprietor of St. Thomas Store; ALPHONSE DOLESE, proprietor of HOBSON Store at Avoca. 27 Feb. 1904 Capt. RICHARD T. VINSON died in Lafayette last Monday. He was a popular drummer (salesman) and a native of Assumption Parish. He was a planter at Greenwood Plantation after the Civil War; in 1864 he married SALLIE HALL of Greenwood. In 1890 they moved to Shreveport and he was elected mayor there. He was the father of 2 children: Mrs. C. SCOTT DELAY and ALLEN VINSON; brother of R. W. VINSON of Shreveport, Mrs. ALICE GREEN of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Mrs. LILLIE HARPER of Palestine, Texas. 5 Mar. 1904 CHARLES NETTLETON, a white swamper, was shot in Morgan City last Tuesday by a black man called "Funny." He died before he could be taken to New Orleans. LEO JUGE, of Assumption, married JULIE LALANDE, of Assumption, on Mar. 2nd at Plattenville. 19 Mar. 1904 RANDOLPH BLANCHARD will replace W. F. HIMEL Jr. as Postmaster at White Castle. Mrs. EUGENE E. LeBLANC, widow, died last Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. She was buried Wednesday at St. Elizabeth in Paincourtville. J. L. ORILLION, the manager of the plantation store of SHERIFF JAMES BEARY, was shot last Tuesday in Lafourche Parish by a black man, who immediately made his escape. ORILLION died the next day. BRUFF FOLSE, son of OSCAR FOLSE, on Wednesday Apr. 6th at Christ Church in Napoleonville at 8:30 p.m. (They did marry and left the next day for Oak Ridge, La., their future home.) 2 Apr. 1904 S. A. ALLEMAN, principal at Napoleonville High School, is to wed MOLLY MARKS, daughter of W. M. MARKS of Plattenville, on Apr. 21st at 12:30 in New Orleans. 9 Apr. 1904 Mrs. LEUFROY SAVOIE, of Belle Rose, died last Wednesday at the home of her only child, Mrs. SABIN SAVOIE. LABARRE of Grand Bayou celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on Thursday, 23rd instant. 30 Apr. 1904 CAMILLE DALFERES, son of A. J. DALFERES of Belle Rose, married MAUDE FOLSE, daughter of LEO FOLSE of St. James, last Wednesday Apr. 27th at the Catholic Church in Donaldsonville. ILMA LECHE, daughter of J. J. LECHE of Donaldsonville, married last Monday Dr. W. J. JOHNSON. He is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Arkansas. ELLA LeBLANC, daughter of EDGARD LeBLANC of Foley Pltn., was married last Wednesday at St. Joseph Church in New Orleans to ARTHUR MANDRY. 7 May 1904 MRS. CHARLES CHILDS drowned Tuesday morning behind WILLIAMS Camp. She was the wife of a swamper. She fell from the skiff as her two children witnessed the tragedy. They are both of Paincourtville and were married at St. Elizabeth Church last Tuesday. Postmaster AUGUST V. BULOW celebrated his 66th birthday last Thursday. RUDOLPH BERGERON will replace CLARENCE AYCOCK at the Elm Hall Store. AYCOCK replaced DURNO DYER on Reserve Pltn. after DYER was promoted to head bookkeeper. E. DABROVAL, Jr. listed on Esperanza rice farm south of Napoleonville having an early rice crop. 14 May 1904 Mrs. DOMINIQUE BADEAUX, the fourth wife of DOMINIQUE, died at her home near Labadieville at the age of 65. Her funeral was from St. Philomena Church in Labadieville. The infant daughter of JAMES GILLY, age 4 months, died last Monday. She was buried Tuesday in Labadieville. VERNON L. CALDWELL, in charge of building the Napoleonville High School, left yesterday for home in Abbeville. WALTER OHLMEYER, of Plattenville, married IDA MARKS, daughter of WILLY MARKS, on Tuesday May 10th at 6 p.m. 21 May 1904 JOE ACOSTE of the Canal lost his youngest child, age 4 months, last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. ARTHUR BOUDREAUX of St. John (?community?) lost their young child. Mrs. Boudreaux is the sister of OSCAR DUGAS, Clerk of Court. JEANNE GUILLOT, daughter of EDWARD GUILLOT, married AUGUST BLANCHARD last Tuesday in Plattenville. 2 July 1904 FRANK BRIGALIA, age 11 years 8 months 23 days, and AUBERT ACOSTA, age 13 years 3 months 16 days, drowned yesterday in the river's upper limits at White Castle between two levees of the river near the government light. Frank was taken with cramps and Aubert attempted to save him. The funerals are today. (From the White Castle newspaper.) MELANCON, on Wednesday June 29th at St. Napoleon Church at 6 p.m. James is manager of his father's St. Thomas Plantation. 9 July 1904 Ingleside sugar estate below Napoleonville, on the left descending bank (of Bayou Lafourche), was sold by LEZIN ORY last Thursday to THEODORE D. LALANDE and T. C. TOUPS of Raceland. Ory bought a plantation 35 miles above New Orleans at Lions Post Office and left Friday for his new home. EMILE ADOLPHE of Laura has erected a cotton gin on his property on the Attakapas Canal. PAULINE DANSEREAU, sister of Dr. PHILIP DANSEREAU, married JOHN McNARA, nephew of JAMES BEARY, last Wednesday at St. Joseph in Thibodaux. A daughter was born on July 4th to CHARLES MUNSON. 16 July 1904 BERNADETTE GIANELLONI of New Orleans will marry MENDES LEVERT of Bayou Goula on July 28th at Jesuits Church in New Orleans. 3-year old VIVIAN GILBERT, daughter of JAMES GILBERT, had a birthday party last Tuesday. 23 July 1904 JOSEPH BARBIER, age 67 years 6 months, died Thursday July 21st in Plattenville at the home of his brothers, VILEOR and OCTAVE BARBIER. He also leaves a brother, AUGUSTE BARBIER, of McCall Plantation, sisters Mrs. EMILE GIROIR, Mrs. HYPOLITE TRUXILLO, Mrs. ADOLPHE COMEAUX. He was a resident of Assumption until a few months ago; he was a blacksmith and a member of the W.O.W. Camp of Paincourtville. 27 Aug. 1904 ANDRE BECK, a Finlander, fell from his boat and drowned last Monday on Bayou Black. He was a rigger at DREWS & HERBERT's skidder camp. ANGELLOZ, aged 83, a merchant at Morgan City for the past 40 years, and EMILE VICE, aged 33, of New Orleans, both drowned while swimming at Last Island on Wednesday. A. WHITAKER, her daughter. Mrs. BOURG was about 87 years old and died of apoplexy. Her other children include Dr. E. U. BOURG, CLAIBORNE BOURG, and the late Mrs. HIRAM H. CARVER. She was the sister of JOHN TRUXILLO and had been married for 7 months. 17 Sept. 1904 MARTIN OURSO, age 23, drowned last Wednesday. His funeral was at the Canal Chapel. Mrs. ULGERE BERNIARD, nee JUDITH LANDRY, died yesterday at the age of 25. She was the daughter of ULYSSE LANDRY, the manager of Woodlawn Pltn. Her sister died less than 2 years ago. LANDRY, son of PAUL LANDRY, died 17 Sept. at the home of his father in Schriever. The funeral was in Paincourtville. MAN WRIGHT shot and killed PETER ANDERSON last Saturday on Sweet Home Pltn; both are negroes. 29 Oct. 1904 GEORGE F. BOWERS died last Tuesday at 4:20 p.m. He was an invalid for 29 years, a Confederate veteran and native of New Orleans. In 1870 he married ELIZA PUGH PIKE, sister of E. W. PIKE. His wife and 2 daughters survive him - Mrs. A C. BUGG of St. Martinsville and Miss HELENE BOWERS. His brothers and sisters are: WILLIE BOWERS, RANDALL BOWERS of New Orleans, Mrs. ESPY W. H. GIANELLONI, the editor of the Assumption Pioneer, on Wednesday Dec. 7th at St. Napoleon Church. Mrs. PHlLIP BERTIN died Wednesday morning in Napoleonville. The funeral was on Thursday at St. Napoleon Church. The lady was 63 years old and left 7 children. A. KESSLER, of Paris, France, died at the age of 80.
