Legendre 5 May 1906 ESTELLE ANCHORDOQUY, a former Napoleonville resident, was married last Monday at Sacred Heart Church in New Orleans to ARTHUR GALATAS. MAX GIANELLONI, manager of Longwood Plantation at Manchac, visited here last Sunday. HENRY TUCKER was found dead of a heart attack on April 28th. on a public road a few miles from Schriever. He was a deputy sheriff in Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes. RENODIER LANDRY AND LEA LEBLANC, both of Brulee St. Vincent, were married on May 8th. at St. Elizabeth Church in Paincourtville. 12 May 1906 A double wedding took place on Monday, May 7th., at St. Napoleon Church. J. BARRAS married ESTELLE BOUDREAUX and WALTER CLEMENT married ANGELE MARQUETTE. On May 8th. SAM NEWCHURCH married NOLA BERGERON in Napoleonville. FRANK DUPRE died last Wednesday, May 9th. at Grand Bayou at age 38 and was buried in Paincourtville. He leaves a wife and three children. BIRTHS: A girl to R. A. GEHRINGER last Saturday, and a girl to CLAY ROGER Of Laura (Pltn.), born Thursday of last week. 19 May 1906 AMADEO BLANCHARD of Paincourtville married MRS. MAURICE CULLIER of Napoleonville at her home with FR. L'ANGLAIS officiating. J. ELPHEGE LEBLANC died on May 17th. in New Orleans and was buried in the Catholic cemetery in Donaldsonville. MR. LEBLANC was born in St. James in 1841 and was the manager of the Belle Terre Plantation of B. LEMANN for twenty years. BIRTHS: A baby son to ALBERT RICHARD of Thibodaux on Monday; A baby girl to COL. TOM BEARY of Thibodaux (No date given) 26 May 1906 Former Napoleonville resident HENRY MARQUETTE will marry JEANNE DUMOIT on June 6th in Houma 2 June 1906 CHARLES HENO, the manager of the Red Cross Drug Store, will marry KATE MARKS in Plattenville on Tuesday, June 12th. at 7 A.M. She is the daughter of WILLIAM MARKS and the niece of REP. JOHN MARKS and a teacher at Napoleonville High School. 9 June 1906 N. T. PINTADO is due to wed MARY COMEAUX, the daughter of ADOLPHE COMEAUX on June 27th. (Their attendants were his brother FREDERIC PINTADO and her sister IDA COMEAUX.) Funeral services were held at Assumption Church in Plattenville on June 4th. for NORBERT RODRIGUE, aged 84 years 7 months He was a resident of St. James Parish and is survived by two children: MRS. MADEO LANDRY, aged 55, died last Tuesday at upper Assumption. The funeral was held at St. Elizabeth Church in Paincourtville. The Lafourche Comet announces two weddings: THOMAS PIERSON to VIOLA CHERAULT ACHILLE BOUDREAUX to DORA MORVANT 16 June 1906 CARROLL BARTON, aged 52 years 7 months, born Nov. 12, 1853 on Little Texas Plantation, died last Tuesday, June 12th., at Belle Cloe Plantation, eight miles above Napoleonville. He was the son of E. D. BARTON. His first marriage was to CARRIE KITTREDGE, daughter of E. E. KITTREDGE, and they had four children: CLARA BARTON (MRS. GREEN), KENNEDY BARTON, CARRIE BARTON, and CARROLL BARTON. His second marriage was to MISS KEMPER from the Teche. His third marriage was to THERESA JEUSTA of Washington, D. C. From this union there were three children: ELAINE BARTON, HELEN BARTON, and THERESA BARTON. He is survived by : three brothers and one sister - ERNEST H. BARTON of St. Elmo, C. C. BARTON of Little Texas, W. I. BARTON of Riverside, and MRS. FRANK PIKE - and by three half-brothers and four half-sisters - ARTHUR BARTON, MRS. KEMPER, LENORA BARTON, RUFFIN BARTIN, BONNIE BARTON, SALLIE BARTON, and FRANK BARTON. The funeral was held at Christ Church in Napoleonville on Wednesday. WIDOW AVIE HIMEL died last Saturday, June 9th., at the Attakapas Canal. Another death at the Canal was that of MRS. EUGENE BERGERON on Thursday, June 14th. MEDRIC ROGER of Laura (Pltn.) lost his two-month-old daughter on Friday. A boy was born Thursday to O. P. LANDRY. 23 June 1906 On Thursday, June 28th., EMMA PENNISON, daughter of V. PENNISON, is due to wed C. F. THIBODAUX at St Andrew Chuzch in Amelia. JOSEPH ST. AMANT of New River in Ascension Parish was shot to death on June 16th. by his nephew, NICK ST. AMANT. ERNEST RODRIGUE, aged 38 years, died today at 2 A.M. in Napoleonville. He was the son of EDWARD RODRIGUE and the brother of F. J. RODRIGUE and MRS. LEO MARQUETTE. He leaves a wife and a daughter. The funeral was held in Plattenville. MRS. THOMAS A. TRUXILLO, nee BORDIS, the daughter of the late DR. G. BORDIS, died Friday evening, June 22nd. in Plattenville. She was 29 years and 3 months of age. She is survived by her husband and three children. Funeral services were held in Plattenville today. MRS. E. A. LAUVE, nee ODALIE LANDRY, died Wednesday, June 20th., in Patterson. She was the sister of MRS. E. P. GILBERT. CLAYTON BADEAUX, 47, died last Sunday, June 17th., in Thibodaux. He was the brother of A. BADEAUX, Lafourche Parish Superintendent of Schools. 30 June 1906 We received news this week that DAMIANO CARDINALA of Glenwood Plantation drowned recently while visiting his cousin in Ensley, Alabama. The unnamed cousin drowned also. Damiano's body will be returned to Glenwood for burial. The other boy was buried in Alabama. ISIAH MOORE, RUDOLPH BLANCHARD, and SILAS BROWN drowned last Tuesday while crossing the bayou in a boat, opposite MRS. WHITAKER's store, one mile above Napoleonville. DOMINGE FALCON clung to the boat and survived. 7 July 1906 LOUIS S. CLARK, a sugar planter in St. Mary Parish, died this Thursday in New Orleans. A son named JOSEPH NICHOLAS BARBIER was born last Monday to ELPHEGE BARBIER. 14 July 1906 I. F. BOUDREAUX of Paincourtville has moved to Barton, La. MR. AND MRS. JOHN B. FOLEY celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary last Saturday evening. 28 July 1906 DAVID SCALLY died last Tuesday on his plantation near Lafourche Crossing. GILBERT CAILLOUT (sic) of Lafourche drowned in Berwick Bay last Saturday morning. He was 22 years old. LOUIS BARLOW and NORA BASSET, both of Lafourche, were married Thursday of last week at St. Joseph's in Thibodaux. 4 Aug. 1906 PHILIP BERNIARD of Napoleonville will marry LUCILLE LEONARD, daughter of OLEUS LEONARD of Thibodaux on Wednesday, August 8th., at 6 P.M. at St. Joseph's Church. 11 Aug. 1906 RUSSELL SAGE, the millionaire who died recently in New York, had relatives in Chackbay. His nephew (the son of his brother WILLIAM SAGE), who had started a business with the millionaire, came here and married a MISS LAFOREST of Lafourche. They had two children. The nephew died about one year ago. LOUIS A. DAIGLE lost his oldest child, MARIE LOUISE DAIGLE, last Wednesday at 10 A.M. She was 1 year and 7 months old. JUNIUS JONES of Thibodaux shot and killed his former spouse, LIZA RICHARDS, in Labadieville last Saturday. VALFORD LAROSE died last Wednesday, August 8th., in Labadieville. The funeral took place at St. Philomena Catholic Church. 18 Aug. 1906 HENRY A. MUNSON, 56, died Monday, August 13th., in Napoleonville. He is survived by his wife, MISS BORDIS, and 5 children: LAWRENCE MUNSON, CHARLES MUNSON, ADDIE MUNSON, HAROLD MUNSON, and HENRY MUNSON. Also surviving him are his brothers - E. P. MUNSON and A. R. MUNSON - and his sisters - MISS ANNIE MUNSON and MRS. FRIEND. MR. MUNSON began in Assumption Parish as a carpenter and an engineer and later managed DR. FORD's Bellewood Plantation. He was the owner of Enola Plantation, which he bought from MR. PARKINS. JOSEPH MAURICE returned this week from his home in Alsace, Germany. BIRTHS: To ALBERT KOCKRITZ - a boy born last week in Napoleonville; To CLAY J. DUGAS - a girl born this morning; To GEORGE W. DODGE - a boy born on the 9th. in New Orleans. 25 Aug. 1906 DAVID A. DENNY has died in New Orleans. Burial was at Woodlawn Plantation on Wednesday. He was the son-in-law of the late COL. W. W. PUGH. DOMINGE FALCON, age 21, died August 24th. near Grand Bayou when he was thrown from a log train and crushed to death. Just a few weeks ago (June 26th.) he had escaped drowning when his boat overturned. MAVOR TRICHE of Napoleonville will marry UNA BRAUD of Donaldsonville at Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, August 28th. She is the granddaughter of MRS. ANDREW GINGREY, SR. Her cousin, ROWENA GINGREY, will be her attendant. WILLIE ROGER, formerly of Assumption and now overseer at Calumet Plantation in St. Mary Parish, will wed VICTORIA BREAUX, the daughter of EDWARD BREAUX of Attakapas Canal, on September 19th. at St. Napoleon Church. Her sister, ROSA BREAUX, will be maid of honor. 1 Sept. 1906 SAMUEL FURCO, alias JOHN PAPA, was arrested in Shreveport on August 27th. for the murder ten years ago of VINCENZO CANCASSI at Belle Rose, La. MR. AND MRS. WILLIAM CLAUSE lost their youngest child early this week. CALEB C. WEBER, a Donaldsonville attorney, is scheduled to wed FRANKIE NICAUD of New Orleans at Notre Dame de Bon Seccur Church in New Orleans on September 9th. GEORGE ADOLPH of the Canal lost one of his twins, a boy, at age 19 months. The funeral will be held at St. Napoleon Church on Wednesday. ERNEST L. STARR has been appointed to manage the Cheveretteville school of Albemarle. He is a graduate of Randolph Macon and John Hopkins. 8 Sept. 1906 The store of CHARLES GROS of Klotzville was completely destroyed by fire this week when his pet cat overturned a lamp. A former Assumption resident now residing in New Orleans, MARCELUS SAVOY, married MRS. FACOUNE BERNUCHAUD of Klotzville on Tuesday in New Orleans at Notre Dame Church. The marriage of PHILIP TRUXILLO of Labadieville to AMELIA KERN of Thibodaux will take place at St. Joseph Church on September 12th. Last Sunday, a girl was born to MR. AND MRS. JAMES DELAUNE of St. Thomas Plantation. From Gulf Coast Inventors column - W. N. BERGERON of Avoca - a hoisting apparatus. MRS. FLORENTIN MICHEL, nee EMERANTE BLANCHARD, died in Bruley St. Vincent last Wednesday, September 5th. at 9 A.M. The funeral was held at St. Elizabeth Church in Paincourtville. MRS. MICHEL was 92 years 7 months and 12 days of age. 15 Sept. 1906 MRS. HEPBURN SAVOIE, nee EDITH AYRAUD, aged 33 years, died last Sunday at 10 P.M. in Belle Rose. The funeral was held on Monday at St. Elizabeth Church. She was the second wife of MR. SAVOIE and is survived by her husband and her mother. HEBERT, aged 77 years 2 months 17 days, died last Wednesday, September 26th. at 10 P.M. Funeral services were held at St. Elizabeth Church. (MR. HEBERT died in 1878.) Her children are THEOPHILE C. BARTON died last Wednesday, October 3rd. at 11 P.M. in Donaldsonville at St. Emma Plantation at the age of 52 years 10 months 5 days. He was the husband of MISS BERTHA BEASLEY. His children are MRS. F. K. SIMS, IDA BARTON, ROBERTA BARTON, and ERNEST H. BARTON, JR. He is also survived by four brothers and one sister: WALTER I. BARTON of Riverside, CLARENCE C. LIRETTE is a brakeman for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Napoleonville. BIRTHS: MR. AND MRS. GEORGE MARTIN of Plattenville announce the birth of a baby girl, and MR. AND MRS. JOE ACOSTA of the Canal announce the birth of a baby boy this week. MRS. LILLIAN MAURIN ST. MARTIN, the daughter of VICTOR MAURIN of Donaldsonville, is planning to marry JUDGE GEORGE W. BRECKINRIDGE of Virginia. The wedding will take place at Christ Church in New Orleans on Thursday, October 18th. at 12 o'clock. The couple will reside in Virginia. In the early part of the week, twin girls were born to MR. AND MRS. LOUIS DILL of Avoca Plantation. Last Wednesday, a boy was born to MR. AND MRS. ETIENNE BLANCHARD. 27 Oct. 1906 DR. AND MRS. O. J. THIBODAUX of Napoleonville are the proud parents of a baby boy, born last Monday. The four-month-old baby of LEO JUGE died last Thursday. MRS. THOMAS PHELPS, nee ODALIE BLANCHARD, died Friday morning, October 26 at Charity Hospital in New Orleans at the age of 56. Her first husband JOSEPH GAUTHREAUX, who died in the 1878 yellow fever epidemic. Her second husband died in 1896. She was the sister of MRS. HENRY NEWCHURCH, MRS. OCTAVE BERGERON and MR. SANTI BLANCHARD. Her nephew, PHILIP GILBERT, was with her during her last days. The funeral took place at St. Napoleon Church and burial was in Paincourtville. OCTAVE FOLSE, a native of Assumption, died last Sunday, October 21st. at the home of his son-in-law, EDGAR MORVANT, a few miles above Thibodaux. He was also the father of MRS. JOHN TRUXILLO and the grandfather of MRS. CAMILLE DALFERES, both of upper Assumption. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Church, Thibodaux. 3 Nov. 1906 URCIN LEBLANC of Raceland died last week at the age of 83. He leaves a wife, three daughters, and five sons, one of whom is EDGAR LEBLANC of Foley Plantation. The funeral was held at St. Sauveur Church, Lockport. On October 4, 1906, there were 1,163 Italian immigrants that arrived in New Orleans on the Italian steamship LAZIO. Those destined for New Orleans numbered 486 and 451 went out to the surrounding sugar districts. Succession No. 1605 - VICTORIN PERCLE and VICTORINE ROGER, his wife - (42 acres of land in Brulee Olivier) MR. AND MRS. THOMPSON became the parents of a baby girl on Monday. 24 Nov. 1906 OZEMEE DAIGLE, aged 22 years, died Friday, November 16th. 1 Dec. 1906 MRS. JOHN LEDET died Friday morning, November 30th. Formerly a resident of Napoleonville, she had moved to Thibodaux in September. ALBERT L. AUCOIN of Plattenville is leaving Eagle Lake, Texas, where he was employed by Lakeside Sugar Refining Company. He will open a sugar factory in Grand Ridge, Florida, and expects to grow 200 acres of cane the first year. MR. AND MRS. SAM P. BOUDREAUX welcomed their firstborn, a girl, last Monday. 8 Dec. 1906 MRS. SAMUEL ARCENEAUX, nee JUDITH DELAUNE, died Tuesday, December 4th. at her home in lower Assumption at age 33 years 1 month 15 days. The funeral was from St. Philomena Church. She was the sister of ANATOLE DELAUNE, EDGARD DELAUNE, OSCAR DELAUNE, ULGERE DELAUNE, and CYLVESTRE DELAUNE. She is survived by her husband and four children. JOSEPH BARRAS of the Canal lost his one-month-old child the early part of the week. OCTAVE THIAC of New Orleans married LENORE TRUXILLO of Paincourtville on December 6th. in Donaldsonville. 15 Dec. 1906 The funeral of LOUIS SIMONEAUX was held Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Church in Paincourtville. He was the son of OCTAVE SIMONEAUX and LODOISKA ROBICHAUX and the brother of SAMUEL SIMONEAUX, AUGUSTIN SIMONEAUX, EDWARD SIMONEAUX, and OCTAVIE SIMONEAUX. MR. SIMONEAUX died Tuesday, December 11th. at the age of 20 years 8 months and 13 days. On Wednesday, December 12th., WILL R. ELFERT married JENNIE ROSA LEE ACHEE, the daughter of A. A. ACHEE of Labadieville. The wedding was at St. Philomena Church. A baby girl was born last Wednesday to MR. AND MRS. ROBERT ROBICHAUX of Glenwood Plantation. 29 Dec. 1906 The seven-year-old son of D. FERRAY of Klotzville died last Wednesday at Pasteur Institute in New Orleans, where he was being treated for hydrophobia. He had been bitten by a cat on November 25th. Funeral services were held at St. Elizabeth Church, Paincourtville, on Thursday evening. ALBERT COOPER died while chasing a demented Negro on LABICHE and RODRIGUE's plantations about one mile below Napoleonville. The engagement of MAGGIE BARRAS to ALBERT CANCIENNE of lower Assumption has been announced. The wedding will be celebrated at St. Philomena Church on Tuesday, January 5, 1907. WALTER BARTON, aged 44 years, died Sunday, December 23rd., at his home on Riverside Plantation near Donaldsonville. He had suffered a stroke last October. He is the third BARTON brother to pass away in the last six months, being preceded by CARROLL BARTON and ERNEST BARTON. He is survived by his wife, nee CORA MORING; two young children; a brother, CLARENCE BARTON of this parish; two half-brothers, ARTHUR BARTON and RUFFIN BARTON; and by one sister, MRS. EFFIE L. PIKE of St. Clair Plantation. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at Christ Church, Napoleonville. Services were conducted by Rev. Quincy Ewing. 5 Jan. 1907 From the Donaldsonville TIMES: MR. MELISE LEBLANC, an aged and highly respected citizen of this town, died at his home on St. Vincent Street last Tuesday morning at 8 o'clock. A native of Assumption Parish, he was 79 years and 6 months of age. The funeral took place last Wednesday at 10 A.M. at the Catholic church and cemetery. He is survived by his aged wife, three daughters - MRS. JEANNE BOURG, MRS. HENRY ROBERTSON, and MRS. ARMAND BOUDIER and three sons - CHARLES LEBLANC, PAUL LEBLANC, and TONY LEBLANC. CLEMENTINE HEBERT, widow of DESIRE U. LEBLANC - No. 1609 - Sale 26 January 1907 (Sale of land in Bruslee St. Martin) Administrator's Sale - Saturday, January 12, 1907 - Succession of MRS. JULIE PENNISON, widow of ETIENNE PENNISON On last Monday, the last day of the year, S. ABRAHAM and V. PREJEANT sold the Melrose Plantation several miles below this town to CAMILLE BLANCHARD, manager of the Blanchard Brothers' Georgia Plantation. The Melrose estate contains 1200 acres ... and the price paid was $50,000. MR. BLANCHARD will manage both Georgia and Melrose, which adjoin each other. C. E. THIAC, aged 51 years 2 months, died last night at 8:30 at his plantation home after a lengthy illness. About ten years ago, he purchased the Georgia tract, where he has been engaged in the sugar business ever since. He was a member of the St. Quentin Lodge Knights of Honor. He leaves a mother, a wife, nine children, one brother, and four sisters. Funeral services will be held this evening at 3 o'clock from Assumption Church, Plattenville. Interment in the family tomb at Paincourtville. She is the daughter of EMILE ADOLPH of Laura, and the groom is a popular school teacher of this parish and the son of CAMILLE BREAUX. They honeymooned in New Orleans and will make their home in lower Canal, where MR. BREAUX is the principal of the public school. Fourteen cases of smallpox on EDWARD RODRIGUE's plantation were reported by LEO MARQUETTE, manager. MRS. WILLIE CLARK and son, BEVERLY CLARK, went to Morgan City on Tuesday to attend the wedding of MR. CLARK's brother, WALTER N. CLARK, to MISS N. HOGAN. PHILOGENE GUEDRY, an old resident of this parish but for the past two years at Baton Rouge, died at his son's residence in Baton Rouge last Wednesday at age 83. He leaves nine children, twenty-eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Civil District Court Report - Succession of RICHMOND HAWKINS and wife - Judgement was ordered herein. On Thursday of last week, DR. OSCAR GAUDET, parish coroner of St. James, passed away at his home. Twice married, he leaves several children, among whom is DR. GASTON J. GAUDET. He served in the Confederate Army. AMEDEE BRAUD and SOL KLOTZ, both of Klotzville, were robbed at the train station while on their way to Mardi Gras in New Orleans. MR. AND MRS. JOHN BLANCHARD are the proud parents of a baby girl, their second child. MAURICE BOUDREAUX, formerly in charge of the Bon Marche Store of MR. M. UHRY, has severed connections with that store and will now be in charge of the Racket Store, formerly managed by S. FOLSE, formerly of Napoleonville. 9 March 1907 On Tuesday, March 5th., OCTAVE HIMEL, aged 74 years and a native of this parish, died in New Orleans, where he had made his home a little more than a year. He was the owner of the Valence Plantation of this parish. Burial and funeral services were held at St. Philomena Church on Wednesday. EMILE FORET, aged 34 years, a native of this parish, died Friday morning of last week at Plaquemine, where he had been residing for the last few years. Deceased is a brother of PHILIP FORET of this town and was for a long time employed by ABEL LANDRY, harness maker. GEORGE MARTIN, the three-year-old son of WIDOW NELLIE MARTIN, died last Sunday after a few days illness. Funeral services and burial were from St. Napoleon Church on Monday morning. A worthy citizen and planter, he was the brother-in-law of MESSRS. DAVE R. BURNS and JOHN BURNS of the Canal. Funeral services were held Sunday evening at the Canal Chapel. The merchants of Paincourtville and vicinity have organized an, anti-lagniappe league, whose objective is to abolish lagniappe (the baker's dozen or a little extra). (A picture of him accompanies the article.) 23 March 1907 NICHOLAS DUGAS, a resident of Brulee St. Martin, 40 years of age, was found dead near his home last Wednesday. The body was in a decomposed condition and lying face down. It is believed it was a death by suffocation, since there were no signs of foul play. BIRTHS: MR. AND MRS. J. A. JOFFRION of Elm Hall are the happy parents of a baby boy. MR. AND MRS. SAM NEWCHURCH of Laura are being congratulated on the arrival of a daughter, their first child. MR. AND MRS. HENRY MARQUETTE are the parents of a bouncing boy born the latter part of the week. LUCIEN LESAGE, aged 20, son of MARCUS LESAGE of Labadieville was thrown from a runaway horse last Sunday and was fatally injured by falling against a telephone pole. He was in a coma until Wednesday when he died. 30 March 1907 A patent was issued to L. BOUDREAUX of Thibodaux for the invention of a nut lock. In St. John Parish near Reserve Plantation, BEN BOURGEOIS, formerly employed as manager of Elm Hall, shot and killed THOMAS W. FARREL and he received four bullets from FARREL, who died a few minutes later. MR. BOURGEOIS was taken to the hospital in New Orleans. One of the parish's leading merchants and businessmen, ABRAHAM KLOTZ, died last Wednesday at Ashville, North Carolina, where he had gone to improve his health. His daughter, MRS. FRANK WEINBERGER, and her husband and DR. S. PAUL KLOTZ, his eldest son, were at his side. MR. KLOTZ was born in Alsace, Germany, seventy-one years ago. His remains were brought to New Orleans Friday and buried in the tomb of the Army of Northern Virginia. He leaves a wife, four daughters (MRS. PHILIP BODENHEIMER, MRS. FRANK WEINBERGER, RACHEL KLOTZ, and DENISE KLOTZ, all of New Orleans) and two Sons (DR. S. PAUL KLOTZ of Summit, Miss. and E. D. KLOTZ of Klotzville.) The engagement of FLORENCE MAY BARTHET, daughter of CHARLES BARTHET of Labadieville, to BERMET BAYARD is announced. The wedding will take place on April 4th. at St. Philomena Church. JAMES GILBERT welcomed a baby boy last Tuesday morning. 6 April 1907 MRS. MAVOR N. TRICHE, nee UNA BRAUD, aged 23 years, died last Thursday evening at her home in this town. Deceased was the wife of our town treasurer. They had been married a few short months. Funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Donaldsonville on Friday. As we go to press this Saturday morning, we learn of the death of the baby boy of MR. MAVOR TRICHE. The little one lived not quite two days. The death of MISS JEANNE PREJEAN, aged 17 years, the daughter of ELPHEGE PREJEAN of Plattenville, which occurred last Sunday morning was a terrible blow to her parents. She was suffering from consumption, which she had contracted about a year ago. Funeral services were held at Assumption Church in Plattenville. The eleven-month-old child of MR. AND MRS. RODOLPH DELAUNE of Bertie died last Thursday. C. F. TRUXILLO, who is now in Mexico as a sugar boiler at the factory of Vista Hermosa Sugar Co., writes us on March 21st. that LEON LANDRY of Assumption Parish has arrived there and assumed the job of chief engineer. 13 April. 1907 News was received here Wednesday of the death of JEAN LARRE, aged 76 years, a native of France, which occurred Tuesday at New Orleans. He had resided for many years in this parish and was married to WIDOW CLEOPHILE MOLERE of Assumption. He was in the hotel business. He leaves the following children: HUGH LARRE of New Orleans, EUGENE LARRE of Wallace, MRS. A. J. DAIGLE of upper Assumption, and MRS. NICK MAIRE. Funeral services were held in Donaldsonville. MISS CORA Z. LAULAND, assistant postmistress, has purchased the residence of ALBERT KOCKRITZ on Franklin Street. MR. KOCKRITZ and family are soon leaving to make their home in Kentucky. News has been received of a dynamite explosion in Pierre Part on Thursday, in which the son of ALADIN GAUTHREAUX was blown to atoms, and the son of SKILER LANDRY was seriously injured. No definite information could be gotten.
