Dugas, nee Eunice Poche, died at her home near Paincourtville, yesterday morning at 4:45 o'clock, aged 24 years, 8 months and 26 days. Mrs. Dugas was taken sick about three months ago, but her condition did not become serious until about a week ago, when it took a turn for the worse and her loved ones realized that she was critically ill. She was given every care and attention that medical science could suggest and tenderly nursed by skilled hands, but despite everything that could be done she sank steadily until she finally breathed her last surrounded by those to whom she had been dear in life. Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. A. Poche of this city, and prior to her marriage, was considered one of the lovliest (sic) and most popular young ladies in Donaldsonville. She was possed (sic) of a sweet disposition which attracted all who knew her and made of them warm and lasting friends. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and her untimely demise has proven a great shock not only to the members of her family, but to the community in which she lived and to Donaldsonville, where she once resided and where she was well known and held in the highest esteem. The funeral took place yesterday evening at 4:30 o'clock, and was largely attended by sorrowing relatives and friends, which attested the esteem in which she was held. Services were held at St. Elizabeth catholic church in Paincourtville, following which the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery at that place. Besides her parents deceased is survived by her grief-stricken husband, who is a tenant on the Dugas and LeBlanc Armelise plantation, and three small children, J. P., Wilton and Robert. She also leaves several brothers and sisters. The Chief extends sympathy to them in their great bereavement.
