(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, May 15, 1880, page 3 KELLY - Drowned, in Bayou Lafourche, at Georgia Landing, near Labadieville, La., Friday night, May 14, 1880, THOMAS KELLY, aged 28 years, a native of Ireland and a resident of New Orleans for the past three years. Deceased was a Corporal in Battery B, Regiment Orleans Artillery, and was well liked by his comrades and all who knew him. He met his death by accidentally falling overboard from the lugger [sic] Eddie Weaver, owned by Mr. Thos. J. Camp, a Lieutenant in the same Battery. All possible efforts were made to rescue the drowning man but without avail. The body has not yet been recovered.
