Marks Passes Away. - Saturday, October 25, at 4 o'clock p. m., William Augustin Marks, aged fifty-seven years and ten months, died in New Orleans at the home of his son, after an illness of several weeks. Deceased was a native of this parish and was the oldest son of the late Wm. Marks, a prominent citizen of Assumption. Mr. Marks was prominent in the politics of the Republican party, and for many years held a federal position in the United States mint in New Orleans. He resided for a few years in Lockport, where he was in business, and at the time of his death he was in the employ of the Tunnerized Roofing Company of New Orleans. He was married four times, and leaves six children, among whom are Mrs. Chas. Heno and Mrs. Walter Ohlmeyer, of this parish. He is also survived by his venerable mother, Mrs. Wm. Marks, and two brothers, Col. John and Robert L. Marks, and two sisters, Mrs. Alcee Aucoin and Mrs. S. A. Alleman. Funeral services were held at Assumption Church, Plattenville, and were largely attended by relatives and friends. - Assumption Pioneer, Nov. 1. Mr. Marks was well known in this community, and had many close friends here who learned of his demise with sincere regret.
