Mrs. Jane Gould Munson died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. ‘Eugene E. Chauvin, on Woodlawn plantation, about three miles below this town, last Tuesday. She was 94 years old, being born February 27, 1826 in Oswego, NY She came to Louisiana in 1844 with a party who were coming to the South, making the trip from Oswego, to Pittsburgh in a stage coach. From Pittsburgh they came to New Orleans by steamboat and thence to Donaldsonville. Along with the party, there came to Bayou Lafourche Dr. Joseph D. Ford, who was also one of the early settlers of Assumption Parish, and they made the trip from Donaldsonville to Napoleonville in a skiff along Bayou Lafourche. It was on this visit to her brother, living in this parish, she met John Alden Munson, a descendent of John Alden, who was also an early settler, having come to this parish from Hartford, Conn. From this union were born the following children: Three sons, Henry A., Alonzo R., and Edward P., and three daughters, Mollie, Ella, and Annie. One son, Alonzo R. Munson, and two daughters, Mrs. C. L. Friend (Mollie) and Mrs. Eugene E. Chauvin (Annie), survive. She is survived also by thirty grandchildren and thirty-eight great-grandchildren, among them being some of the most prominent people of this parish. One, Charles H. Munson, is a sugar planter and a member of the Legislature from this parish. Mrs. Aubrey Barlett of New Orleans is a grandchild. Funeral services were held at Christ Episcopal Church here, of which she was a member, Wednesday afternoon with interment in the family tomb. Rev. Quincy Ewing officiating. The pallbearers were six of her grandsons, Charles M., Harold F. Stephen C, Edward P. and Lloyd Munson and James Chauvin"
