Simoneaux, prominent citizen and merchant of Assumption parish, died at his home at Belle Rose last Tuesday morning at 7:30 o'clock, aged 75 years and 6 months. Mr. Simoneaux conducted a general merchandise store at Belle Rose for the past thirty years under the firm name of P. U. Simoneaux & Son. Despite his advanced age he was active and energetic and devoted much of his time to the growing of vegetables, and it was while at work in his garden that he contracted a cold which developed into pneumonia Thursday of last week, and despite everything that could be done for him his condition grew gradually worse until he finually (sic) passed away. The funeral took place Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock, with services at the Catholic church at Paincourtville and interment in the Catholic cemetery at that place. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons and one daughter, E. N. Simoneaux and Mrs. F. S. Hebert of New Orleans, and P. U. Simoneaux of Belle Rose. The Chief condoles with the relatives in their bereavement.
