June 18. - The funeral services of the late H. Joseph Verret, who died at the Touro infirmary in New Orleans Saturday morning took place Sunday evening at 4 o'clock at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Paincourtville. The church was filled with relatives and out of town friends from all parts of the state. Mr. Verret had been ill for the past six months. He had lived until June 24 it would have been just one year since he was married to Miss Therese LeBlanc, whom he leaves, besides a mother and two sisters. Judge H. Joe Verret, as he is better known, has held the position of Justice of the peace for the past fourteen years. He was appointed chief deputy sheriff by Sheriff Edgard Aucoin in 1900; he was a native of this parish and spent all of his life here. He was also prominent in political life.
