He was one of the fifteen children of Augustin Gregorie Bordelon and Constance Marcotte. There is some discrepancy about his actual date of birth. His tombstone lists his date of birth as 1-7-1843 while his Civil War Pension Application lists the date as 1-7-1844. (Note: Per tombstone, his middle initial was "E". Per marriage record, his middle initial was "A".) On 17 April 1873, Emile married Lea Juneau. Lea was the daughter of Zenon Juneau II and Lea (Elmina) Desselles. Emile and Lea had at least four children before her death less than ten years later. 1. Canellia Bordelon 2. Augustin Alzide Bordelon 3. Alfred Bordelon 4. (Unknown) Bordelon who drowned in the bayou On 28 January 1883, Emile married a second time to Adolphine (Adolphina) Rabalais. They had at least eight children: 1. Clifton (Cliff) Bordelon (married Corrine) 2. Norma Bordelon (married Willis Beard) 3. Marie Anais Bordelon 4. Emile F. (Faggie) Bordelon (married Athalie Baudin) 5. Marie Olita Bordelon (maried Arthur Couvillion) 6. Lessie Bordelon (married Able Paul Moreau (1) and Louis Burke Sr. (2)) 7. Eva (Evie/Evelyn) Bordelon (married Foster Mayeux) 8. Clarise Cecilia (Gladys) Bordelon (married Paul Moore Mayeux)(my grand- parents) Emile enlisted in the Civil War in May of 1864. A transcription of his Civil War Pension application can be found on the Avoyelles Archives website under "Pensions". Emile died on 21 November 1914 and was buried in Bordelonville at St. Peter's Church. Both of his wives are buried in the same grave with him. The cause of death is unknown. He had been shot in the foot during a hunting accident and the wound never healed. It is unknown if this contributed to his death. (Note: The info provided by St. Peter's Catholic Church in Bordelonville about Emile's death is as follows: Emile A. Bordelon married to Adolfine Rabalais; Died November 23, 1915, Buried November 24, 1915 - St. Peter's Cemetery. Fr. B. Regis. - His parents: Augustin Bordelon & Euzalie Bordelon. However, based on additional research, some of the info provided by St. Peter's appears to be incorrect.)
