State Of Louisiana Parish of Avoyelles No. 493 Bound of 500 $ Dominique Plessy I Joseph Santo as principal and I Dominique Plessy as bail(bondsman)we pledge our word to pay jointly and severally to the judge of the parish,to him or his successors in office,the amount of five hundred piastres,the legal currency of the United States of America,Avoyelles,February 2, 1816. The conditions of the bond (recognizance)above mentioned are,considering Sir Joseph Santo has obtained today the coasting license for one year,he will not infringe the law relative to the coast sailors or coast goods traders approved on the 8th. of April 1811. If so he breaks the so- called law,the so-called bond above mentioned becomes null and on the contrary,the bond above mentioned remains valid and effective. Done on this very day. Above,Joseph Santo has written his ordinary cross, having declared he could not sign. D.Plessy Ordinary mark of caution Joseph (X) Santo Recorded February 2nd. 1816 F. Plauche, Judge of the Parish of Avoyelles (There is another document exactly like this one,except in it Joseph Santo put up the bond for Dominique Plessy. So, they jointly owned a shipping license.)
