Calvin Hayes Sr., age 96 of Effie (La.) died 16 July 1996 in Avoyelles 
Hospital. He was a native of Effie (La.), a member of the Oak Grove 
Methodist Church. He was a rancher and member of Marksville Masonic 
Lodge No. 269 for 62 years. Survivors:  5 sons: Aaron Hayes & Oren Hayes, 
both of Ruby;  Dayson "Jack" Hayes, Calvin Hayes Jr. & Winston Hayes,
all of Effie.  2 daughters: Verna L. Wilson of Marksville (La.) and Gilda 
(sic) Thorne of Springfield, Oregon.  1 brother: Arl (sic) Hayes of Effie 
(La.) 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Masonic Service: Held 
at 7 pm. Thursday in the chapel of Hixson's. SERVICES: Held at 10:30 am. 
Friday in Oak Grove Methodist Church. Burial: Under direction of Hixson 
Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville (La.) Entombment:  In the church 
mausoleum.
