NOTE: This is a transcription of the marriage record and marriage contract of
Zenon Lemoine and Josephine Rabalais dated June 27, 1820.  The original is
in English.
Zenon and Josephine were my g-g-g-g-grandparents.  

A religious marriage ceremony was recorded at St. Paul's, Mansura on 2-11-1826.

On this Twenty Seventh day of June one thousand eight hundred and twenty 
before me Cornelius Voorhies Parish Judge in and for the Parish of Avoyelles 
came Pierre Lemoine and Lucey Bordelon his wife who being capable of giving 
their consent declare by these presents that they give their full and entire 
consent to a marriage concluded on between their son Zenon Lemoine and 
Josephine Rabalais all of the Parish of Avoyelles.  In testimony whereof
they have hereunto set their names by the ordinary marques in presence 
of the subscribing witnesses the day and date above written.

Judge in and for the Parish of Avoyelles came Joseph Rabalais and Adelaide Mayoux
his wife who being capable of giving their consent declare by these presents that
they give their full and entire consent to a marriage concluded on between their
Daughter Josephine Rabalais and Zenon Lemoine both minors and of the Parish of
Avoyelles.  In testimony whereof they have hereunto set their names by their 
ordinary marques in presence of the subscribing witnesses the day and date above
written.

On this twenty seventh day of June one thousand eigth hundred and twenty before
me Cornelius Voorhies Parish Judge in and for the Parish of Avoyelles came Pierre
Lemoine and Joseph Rabalais both of the Parish aforesaid who declare that they have
concluded a marriage between their children Zenon Lemoine and Josephine Rabalais
to be celebrated this day and in order to establish hereafter the property that
is brought into the community they have made entered into a contract the said
Zenon Lemoine brings into the community the following property (towit) twenty six
head of cattle and four head of horses Estimated at Four hundred and sixty Dollars
and seventeen hundred Dollars in cash which makes the sum of two thousand on 
hundred sixty Dollars and the said Josephine Rabalais brings into the community
the following property (towit) one Armoire Estimated at sevety five Dollars one
bed complete Forty Dollars.  Two head of horses Fifteen Dollars kitchen furniture 
twenty Dollars and the said Zenon Lemoine for the Love and affection which he
bears towards his future spouse, Joseph Rabalais acknowledges to have by his
received ___ the sum of three hundred Dollars in cash which makes the amount 
brought into the community by the said Josephine the sum of Four hundred Dollars
--------and the Zenon & Josephine by and with the consent & apistance (?) of their
Fathers do covenant and agree to be governed by the Existing Laws of this State
in case of disbolution (??) without heir.  In testimony whereof they have 
hereunto set their marues in presence of the subscribing witnesses the day
and Date above written
