Burks Cemetery is located south of Merryville.  Traveling south on LA 389, you
will find a sign on the right side of the road leading you to Burks---a small
cemetery on top of a knoll surrounded by piney woods.  When you turn off LA
389, go 4/10 of a mile and turn right at the first side road; then, it is only
1/10 of a mile to the cemetery.

There is evidence of "lost" graves, and some of the tombstones are very
difficult to read.  Just outside the gate, a large oak tree has succumbed to
age or disease---the stump shows it to have been a giant.  All in all, this is
a lonely, picturesque little cemetery.
