To get to Wingate Cemetery, we traveled south on LA 389 about 6 miles till we
found the Wingate Cemetery sign on the right side of the road.  Turning here
and traveling less than half a mile, we took the right fork to Wingate
Cemetery (the left fork dead-ends at some "Old River" campsites).  This is a
remote lonely site.

There are three ancient cedar trees and an oak tree that could tell some tales
if they could talk.  The past two years, summer dry spells have taken their
toll on several azalea bushes.  With a bit of care, they could be brought
around now --- 1992.

The road is dirt, but is in good condition even after the January 1993 rains.
It's worth visiting for no other reason than to see Cooter's reservation
marker.
