Edwin "Buddy" Whiddon, age 68, died 31 August 1997 at his residence. He was a native of DeRidder, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was the retired owner and operator of Buddy's Saddlery in DeRidder, La. (and Buddy's Refrigeration in Lafayette and Alexandria). He was a former member of Horseshoe Drive Baptist Church (Alexandria) and a member of First Baptist Church in DeRidder. Survivors: Wife, Betty Jo Hooper Whiddon of DeRidder Sons: Eddie Whiddon of DeRidder and Dale Whiddon of Memphis, TN. Brother: John Roy Whiddon of DeRidder. Grandchildren: Two Services: One to held today at 7:30 pm. in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Pineville, La., with visitation from 4-9 pm. Another service will be held at 11 am. Wednesday in First Baptist Church, DeRidder with the Revs. Stan Allcorn, Doyle Cooper, Joe Joslin and Arthur D. Rockett officiating. Burial: Will be in Newlin Cemetery at Singer, La. under direction of Beauregard-Vernon Funeral Home in DeRidder.
