Native of Kinder, he attended Southwestern La. Institute (USL). The owner and operator of Genius Drug Store in Iowa for more than 40 years, he received a gold certificate from the La. State Board of Pharmacy to commemorate 50 years in the profession. He was a former alderman for the city of Iowa and was a charter board member of the first Board of Aldermen when the city of Iowa incorporated and was apst member of the Ward 8 Drainage Board. He was a charter member of the Lions Club in Iowa and a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church. Survivors are two daughters, Carolyn Slack of Vinton and Janis Genius of Dallas; one sister, Roma Genius of Baton Rouge; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A native of Long Beach, Miss., she was a retired minister's wife. She was a member of Oak Park Methodist Church in Lake Charles. She accompanied Rev. Emmerich in his work with the Mississippi Methodist Conference, the Louisiana Methodist Conference as well as his pastoral work with several Mississippi and Louisiana churches, including Osyka Methodist Church. They served as missionaries in Korea for five years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a former lineman for Beauregard Electric, and he retired from Kulaga Construction in DeRidder as a lineman. Mr. Granberry died at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 1997, at his residence. A native of DeRidder, he was a graduate of LSU. He worked for Core Laboratories Inc. for 45 years, retiring in October 1986 as senior vice president and a member of the board of directors. He was an expert in Gulf Coast Petroleum formation evaluation and was a pioneer in developing sidewall core analysis techniques and procedures. He developed an analysis that significantly advanced the level of accuracy for predicting oil and gas production for the Gulf Coast. He was a member of The National Society of Professional Well Log Analysists, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Society of Independent Petroleum Earth Scientists, Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Lafayette Geological Society. He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Lafayette and served on several church committees. He was on the board of Trustees of Louisiana College and served on several board committees. Survivors are his wife, Mary C. Granberry; one daughter, Mrs. Lenet A.(Janice Ann) Guidry of Napoleonville; two sons, Robert Ray Granberry of Lafayette and Dr. William David Granberry of Kaplan; one brother, Thomas S. Granberry of Nunez; six grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. Mr. Green died at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, March 8,1997, in a Lake Charles hospital. A native of DeRidder, he graduated from DeRidder High School. He attended McNeese State University and received a B.A. degree in social studies and government from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a M.Ed. in counseling and guidance from McNeese. While at MSU, Green participated in the ROTC program and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars and in Berlin during the construction of the Berlin Wall. He taught in the ROTC program at McNeese and retired with the rank of major after 25 years of service. He also taught in the Calcasieu Parish school system for 22 years and retired after serving as a counselor at LaGrange Senior High School. At the time of his death, Green was serving his fifth term as a Calcasieu Parish Police Juror. During his tenure he served on numerous committees, including the Courthouse and Jail Planning committees, Police Jury liaison to McNeese and Lake Charles, the Mayor's Armed Forces Committee, and Veterans Memorial Park Advisory. He was a member of the Louisiana State Police Jury Association, and had served as the association's civil defense chairman. He was a member of theW. B. Williamson Post 1 of the American Legion, heading the Boys State program for 25 years and past vice commander. He also was a member of VFW Post 2130 and the Vietnam Veterans. For McNeese, he had served on the McNeese Foundation President's Circle, as past president of the McNeese Alumni Association, and on the Alumni Board for 14 years. He was a past president of the Cowboy Club, a charter board member of the Football Club, a member of the Alumni Founders 100 Club, the Tip-Off Club, the Cowgirl Club and the Friends of the McNeese Library. He was a charter member of the Pinch Hitter's Club and past president of the McNeese Quarterback Club. A member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, he served as an usher and had been a vestryman. Survivors are his wife, Harriet Baird Green; two sons, Don Green Jr. of Lake Charles and Ron Green of Baton Rouge; three daughters, Laura Green Busch of Sulphur, Donna Green of Lake Charles and Meg Green of Athens, Gal; and three grandchildren. A resident of Moss Bluff the last 33 years, she was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. She retired in 1994 as assistant vice president of First National Bank, Northside and Moss Bluff branches, after 25 years of service. Survivors include one son, Robert "Bobby" Jones of Moss Bluff; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Cynthia) Gilbert of Moss Bluff; one brother, I.M.
