A native of Lake Charles, she had lived in Longville three years. She had attended DeRidder High School and was a graduate of East Beauregard High School. She was employed as an operator for Entergy Corporation. She was a member of Local 953 Carpenter Union and Electrical Union in Lake Charles. He received various medals for outstanding accomplishments during the time served. He worked at Consolidated Steel Co. in Orange, Texas for two years prior to entry into active service. He retired from Cities Service Refinery in 1982 with 35 years service. Survivors include his wife, Jessie M. Holley; two sons, Henry A. and Kirby S. A native of Tomball, Texas, he had lived in Lake Charles since 1949. A graduate of Tomball High School, where he was selected as an all-state athlete in football, basketball and track, he came to Lake Charles to play football for McNeese. At McNeese he became the first All-American football player in school history. He was inducted into the McNeese Hall of Fame in 1980. He was president of his sophomore and senior classes, and in his senior year, was co-captain of the McNeese football team. He was a member of the McNeese R.O.T.C. and received his commission after graduation. He served on active duty for several years during the Berlin Crisis and the Bay of Pigs Invasion. he retired as a lieutenant colonel after 28 years of active and reserve duty. He was the former commander of the 372nd Finance Unit, Army Reserve, in Lake Charles. After graduation from McNeese, he received his master's, masters plus thirty and specialist degrees from McNeese. He coached at LaGrange Senior High School, Westlake High School and McNeese. In 1962 he was selected Gulf States Coach of the Year, and in 1968, he was selected as District 4-AA Coach of the Year. He was principal of S.P. Arnett Middle School. He was executive assistant to the superintendent of the Calcasieu Parish School Board, director of energy, director of energy and safety, director of warehousing and director of transportation for the School Board. He published a safety manual for the School Board. He was the former owner of Acadian Marble, owner of Lake City Sky Rapids and a former deputy with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Department. He was a former member of the McNeese Alumni Board of Directors, the McNeese Foundation Inner Circle, past president, past president of the 4-H Advisory Committee for Calcasieu Parish, past president of the Middle School Principal's Association, member of the board of directors of McNeese State University Cowboy Club and the Lake Area Pinch Hitter's Club. He was a member of the Calcasieu and Louisiana Association of Educators, National Association of Educators, Calcasieu Principals' Association, Southwest Louisiana Principals' Association and the Louisiana School Bus Transportation Association. She was a native of Leesville, had lived in DeRidder for the past 60 years and was a descendent of an area pioneer family. She attended Louisiana Normal (Northwestern), McNeese State University and LSU. She was a teacher for 20 years and taught at Fort Polk and in area elementary schools. She started a catering service for soldiers during World War II, was active in the Red Cross and served on the board of directors for the first USO. She owned a flower shop, became a nationally accredited flower show judge and traveled internationally. She was either a charter member, president or on the board of directors of many local organizations such as the Garden Club and Gardenettes, study clubs, the Historical Society, the Beauregard Museum, the Little Theater and the Impromptu Players. She was the 1989 DeRidder Queen of Mardi Gras and a member of First United Methodist Church.
