Mrs. McDaniel died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in the DeRidder hospital. She was a native of Negreet and had lived in the Beauregard and Vernon Parish areas for most of her life. She was a schoolteacher in Sabine Parish for four years. She worked as a welfare visitor with the Department of Public Welfare and as a family service worker with the Protective Service Unit of the Division of Family Service. She retired from state service after almost 38 years of service. She was president of the DeRidder Business and Professional Women's Club and was a former club Woman of the Year. She worked with the Louisiana Conference of Social Welfare and the American Public Welfare Association. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 204 in Rosepine. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a teacher and a choir member. Survivors include five sisters, Tina Paul of Lake Charles, Mable McKinney of Manchester, Mo., Toye Cappel of Kinder, Dot Masinter of Jefferson and Mary Harper of Mandeville; one daughter, Patricia Ann Crow; two grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Joy Singers, Nursing Home Music Ministry and Prayer Ministry. He was a 32nd degree mason of Masonic Lodge 271 and an Associate Patron of Pinehurst Chapter 33, Order of the Eastern Star. He was a native of Boston. He attended LaSallette Prep Seminary in Hartford, Conn., and studied philosophy and theology in Altamont, N.Y., Milford, Iowa, and Ipswich, Mass. He was ordained a priest May 6, 1948, in Ipswich. He volunteered to be a missionary in Burma and served as a missionary in Madagascar in 1957. He studied pastoral counseling in Center City, Minn., and worked as a counselor at St. Joseph General Hospital in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada. He served as program director of Libertyville Treatment Center for Alcoholism in Merrill, Iowa, and served as clergy counselor in the chemical dependency unit of Brokaw Hospital in Norris, Ill. In the last 15 years, he served in parishes in Louisiana and Texas, was associate pastor in Friendswood, Texas, left semiretirement in 1992 to serve as pastor of St. Therese in Orange, Texas, and was pastor at St. Theresa Church in Carlyss. He served at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Sulphur and St. Joseph in DeRidder. Survivors include numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
