He was a member of Pitkin Lodge 338, a F&AM and past patron of Corona Chapter 110 Order of the Eastern Star, and the VFW Cole-Miers Post 3619 of DeRidder. He was a member and deacon of Mt. He retired in 1985 as a lease pumper and plant operator from Arco after 38 years service. He was a former Beauregard Parish Ward One Police Juror. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church. Survivors include his wife, Pansy Snyder Travis; two daughters, Aleta Butts of Vidor, Texas and Sheridan Hollingsworth of Lumberton, Texas; three brothers, James A. Travis of DeRidder, Jesse Travis of Merryville and Grayson Travis of DeQuincy; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a retired sergeant for the Louisiana State Police. He owned and operated Vines Town and Country Mobile Homes and the Gillis Grocery Store for many years. He also was employed by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office. He was a member of the Louisiana State Troopers Association and VFW Post 10665. He was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. She served as Justice of the Peace in Ward 8 for 12 years and worked for five years at the East Beauregard Processing Plant. Survivors include one son, Joe Willis of Topsy; three daughters, Patricia Dianne Hall of Westlake, Brenda Corley of Florien and Lisa Poteet of DeRidder; one brother, James Austin of DeRidder; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
