Watkins Ancestor Hunting Book Author: Unknown Deacon William Jefferson Mobley - Born August 21, 1843 in Bienville Parish, is the son of William Mobley Born: South Carolina and Martha A. Williams He was born 1819 of Illinois and is the grandson of Michael Mobley, who was born in South Carolina and Mrs. Williams native of Wales. She was also known as Martha Ann Brown. William J. Mobley was one of three children, and served in the Confederate Army, moved to Bossier Parish, La. in 1870, married Mattie L. Hardy in 1870. She was the daughter of Eldred Hardy, and Mary Hardy, born South Carolina and Mary born in Bienville Parish, later they moved to Shreveport and she died March 29, 1897. Dec,2, 1865 William Mobley filed final account of tutorship of Minor, Louisiana Burk, Sale of property of succession of Sarah Mobley deceased. Children born to this union: Francis Marion Mobley Born Dec.13,1841- Bienville,La. Died July 3, 1879 William Jefferson Mobley Born August 21, 1843- Bienville, La. Married in 1870- Mattie L. Hardy, daughter of Eldred and Mary Hardy. The former was born in South Carolina, the later in Bienville Parish. Both Dr. Mobley and his wife ere devout members of the Baptist Church, he being both deacon and clerk. They moved from Bellevue to Gibbsland in 1892, thence to Shreveport, where both died, the doctor at the time of his death, on March 20, 1897, being Superintendent of the Sunday School of the First Baptist Church. During the yellow fever epidemic of 1873, Dr. Graves a Baptist philanthropist, found Jesse Woods (bereft of both parents), whom Dr. and Mrs. Mobley took, and educated, he assuming their name, hence Jess Woods Mobley, now Dr. J.W.
