Virginia, married Elizabeth WELDON born ca 1766, Halifax Co. North Carolina. Widow Elizabeth Easley , sons: William, John, Pleasant, Robert and Drury, daughter Betsy. Most of these sons and their families moved to Hickman Co. Tennessee, including sons Robert and Drury, who then moved on to St. Helena Parish Louisiana and Amite Co. Mississippi border. In 1804 , Greenville Dist. South Carolina, Benjamin F. ELKINS gave a slave to his daughter Elizabeth, now wife of Robert Easley. Robert born 1785 in Greenville Dist. S.C. died St. Helena Parish. Robert and Elizabeth both buried Power-Tate Cem. Amite Co. Miss. Benjamin Franklin s/o Robert and Elizabeth was born 1811, married Mary WHITE. Children: Robert Benjamin Easley born 28 Dec 1830, died at Friendship La. married 1st Catherine SHIVELY born 20 Sept 1838 in Ohio. They had Benjamin born 1855; George Ed born 8 Jan 1860 married Tommie Ann DURBIN, d/o Tom and Dandy RABON Durbin. Their children were Ora, Pearlie, Sheard, Clayton, Berdie, Layton, Maurice; Theo Docia married G.M. COLLINSWORTH and had Maude and Edgar; Roberta married Adger WHITLOW and had Ruth; Robert Eugene born 2 Aug 1869 died 23 Dec 1935 at Friendship. Married Lula HARRIS and had Eula, Robert, Jack, Mary; Kansas born 26 July 1871 married L.H. STALL; Georgia born 28 Jan 1877, married Turner J. LANN and had Carl; Robert Benjamin married 2nd Louisa PIPES and had (1) Mattie Lenora born 1878 married John Bunyan LOE, s/o Stephen LOE. Children of Mattie and John were Tracy Lamar, Ineze, Ralph, Lucille, Roy M., and Justin B. ;. (2) Louis married Era SHIVELY d/o William B. and Rozella May Mixon Shively. Pinckard) EDGERTONS and related families (Written by a grandson of Dr. Edgerton, Edwin Otis Edgerton Jr.)Dr. Edwin Tracey Edgerton born 5 April 1827, Edgefield, S. Carolina. On his father's side he is descended from the Tracey's, a high ranking English family, members of the Order of the Garter. Dr. Edgerton married Ann Trotti SWEAT. Edwin's grandmother's parents were Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin Screven SWEAT They, along with Mr. Edward PATTERSON, a cousin of Mrs. Sweat, came to La. during 1860-61. They settled in northern Natchitoches Parish. Edwin's father, Edwin Otis Edgerton, tenth child of Dr. and Mrs. Edgerton, married Lacey Craig REGENOLD of Memphis. He was attending medical school there. Edwin names brothers and sisters, Katherine Evora, brother Edwin Otis (died very young,), sister (died very young), Frederick Regenold. Otis Edgerton Jr) EGAN, Dr. Bartholomew and Anne Eliza CORMICK Egan Dr. Egan born Killarney Ireland, 1795, graduated Trinity College, Dublin. Married Anne Eliza CORMICK 6 Nov 1818, Dublin Ireland where she was born 1796. She was d/o John CORMICK and Elizabeth FOLEY. John Cormick, goldsmith was forced to flee Ireland because of political unrest and came to U.S. He settled Augusta, Georgia. Daughter Anne Eliza sailed to America 1817, returning to Ireland just before her marriage Bartholomew came to U.S. 1819, settled in Virginia. She followed in March 1821. Their two children were born in Virginia. James Cronan Egan born Mecklenburg Co. in 1822, William B. Giles Egan in 1824 at home of Governor Giles and was named for him. Bartholomew was a classical teacher and merchant, studied medicine at Richmond Medical College, graduated, practiced medicine for the next 22 years at Martinsville, Horse Pasture, Danville and Callands Virginia. At the age of 12, James began the study of medicine with his father and attended lectures at Richmond. Received his degree from University of New York, New York City in 1846. William Egan graduated from Emory amd Henry College in 1845 and was admitted to the bar of Virginia in 1847. Practiced in Pittsylvania Co. until 1848 when he moved to Louisiana. Bartholomew moved to Louisiana in 1848. Anne came behind him, traveling by boat with William. They settled at Mt. Lebanon. Dr. Bartholomew served in many prestigious offices, including Surgeon General of La. Anne died 26 Oct 1871, and is buried in Mt. Lebanon Cem. Dr. Bartholomew moved to Shreveport with his son Dr. James C. Egan. He died there in 1881 and is buried in Oakland Cem. William B. Giles established his law practice in Homer La., was a Judge and State Representative. Moved to Shreveport in 1868, died there in 1878. Married Mary Kimborough HARPER, who died a year later. His 2nd wife was Mary HODGES. He had no children. Dr. James C. Egan began medical practice in Virginia, moved to Bienville Parish in 1850. Married 7 Sept 1852 Susan Rebecca ARDIS, d/o Matthias Ardis and Louisa NAIL. She was born 1823, Darlington Dist. S. Carolina. He served as Surgeon for the 9th La. Reg. CSA. Elected to State Senate 1868. In 1876 moved to Shreveport. Served in many prominent posts in medicine. Died 14 Dec 1911. Susan died 21 Mar 1908. They are buried in Mt. Lebanon Cem. Five children: Annie Louise married Andrew Jackson COLBERT; Dr. William Lucius married Lillian WHITE; Sallie Maria died age 5; Mary Clint married Dr. C.H. IRION ; Lavinia Harwell who was poet, author, painter, world traveler, lecturer. National Sec'y of Women's Sufferage Party, helped draft the Women's Sufferage Amendment to the Constituition. EVANS family Basil Harrison Evans came from Wales to Camden Arkansas, maried Sarah Ann COLLINS. One son Barzilla Harrison Evans who married Safrona Anna WOOD and had 5 sons, 4 daughters. Barzilla and family moved and settled at Jamestown, La. His son Joe Harrison married Orry Elizabeth ROBINETTE and had 12 children: Andrew Lee, Eunice Frona, Iva Mabel, Ava B., Tressie, Wilfred Joe, Elmer Harrison, Effie Idell, Ellie Marie, Lester Henry, Mertise Evelyn, Clinton Eugene Evans. Georgia, 20 Dec 1802 naming Wife Elizabeth, sons Henry and John, daughters Mildred, Susannah, Mary, Letitia KING, Elizabeth HANSON, Sarah BARNES. His son Henry died ca 1814 Jasper Co. Georgia. Son John married Sarah SHACKELFORD, d/o John SHACKELFORD. The wife of John Shackelford is believed to be Penelope ADAMS d/o Robert Adams and Penelope LYNCH. John Shackelford and Penelope Adams married 15 August 1778, Bedford Co. Virginia. John Shackelford was s/o John Shackelford Sr. and Isabella WEDDERBURN of King and Queen Co. Virginia. Isabella WEDDERBURN was d/o David Wedderburn who emigrated to America from Scotland ca 1725/30 and settled on the York River in King and Queen Co. Va. He married Caty THOMAS. Robert Adams was s/o Robert Adams Sr. of Virginia. Penelope LYNCH was d/o Major Charles Lynch who came from Ireland to America ca 1700 and married ca 1733 in Virginia, Sarah CLARK, d/o Christopher Clark whose will was proven 28 May 1754 in Louisa Co. Virginia. Mildred EVANS married John W. SHACKELFORD 29 Dec 1801 in Richmond Co. Georgia. Susannah Evans married Zachariah GARNETT 21 Feb 1803, Richmond Co. Georgia. Mary "Polly" Evans is said to have married Mordicia Shackelford, s/o John Shackelford, no marriage date has been found. Letitia Evans married John KING 3 Feb 1797 Columbia Co. Ga. Elizabeth Evans married Thomas HANSON 20 Feb 1788 Richmond Co. Ga. Sarah Evans married a Mr. BARNES. John Evans and Sarah Shackelford married ca 1790 in Ga. or North Carolina. John Evans (of Putnam Co. Ga.) was a Revolutionary soldier in the company of Capt. John Clark in the Battalion of Major Elijah Clark and in 1779 participated in the Battle of Kettle Creek Ga. Children of John and Sarah Evans are: Anselm Lynch who married Sarah hinton BRYAN and was father of the famous General Clement Anselm Evans of the Confederacy. Turner Evans married Ridley WOOD; Elizabeth Evans married 1816, Jasper Co Ga. to John Haddon TRIMBLE; Susan Evans married John WOOD who was brother of Ridley wood.; Thomas Evans to Mississippi; John Evans who died 1879 in Birmingham Ala.; Martha Evans married 1st 1827 Baldwin Co. Ga to George Joseph GINDRAT. Married 2nd George T. WOOD and moved to Texas where he became the 2nd Governor of Texas in 1848. Turner Evans, s/o John and Sarah Evans, born ca 1793, Ga. Married ca 1817, Ridley WOOD. Served as Corporal in Company commanded by Capt. Joseph Howard in the Ga. Militia, War of 1812. They were parents of John A. Evans who married Elvira WHARTON; Elizabeth married James Madison WHARTON; Hiram Evans married Mary Ann HUCKABY; Jane; Martha; William; possibly others. John A. Evans born 1818 Ga., s/o Turner and Ridley Evans. Married Elmira WHARTON 9 Feb 1840 Stewart Co. Ga. They came to Sparta, Bienville Parish La. in early 1850s. They had: Ridley Ann married Wade BARRINGTON; Bernita married John GAMEL; Mary Ellen married William S. STREETMAN; Minerva Jane married James Edward SMITH; William Thomas married Louisa Jane WHITE; John B. married Lutricia HUCKABY; James Silas married Fanny YOUNGBLOOD and possibly James L. married Louisa Amanda WOOD. Elmira Wharton Evans died in 1864 and John A. Evans married 2nd Mrs. Martha Jane BEARD, a widow with several children. John died ca 1878 at Sparta. James Silas Evans and Fanny YOUNGBLOOD were the parents of : Lillie Mae died 1898; Lela Ridley married Floyd WIGGINS; Ear; "Buck" married Mamie BATES; Silas married Lottie SEATON; Bartley married Letha FITZHERRY; John D. married Elvin SEATON. Bruce Evans married 1924, Refugio Texas, Annie Mae SEATON. 8 children (submitted by Mrs. Thomas J. Webb) EVANS, Hiram S/o Turner and Ridley (WOOD) Evans, born 1825 Ga., married 16 June 1844 in Marion Co. Ga. to Mary Ann HUCKABY. He died 1863, Mary Ann died 1864, Bienville Par. La. Children: John Turner born 1845 Ga.; William Franklin; James Hiram; Mary Susan; Thomas Green; Nancy Elmira; Minerva Caroline. James Hiram born 1849 Ga. married 23 Dec 1869 to Mary M. WHITE, d/o Philimon and Milydia McGEE White. William Franklin born 16 Dec 1847 Ga. married 9 aug 1867 Bienville Par. La. to Fredonia Evans. He died 18 Mar 1930, Fredonia died 24 Apr 1927, both in Palo Pinto Co. Texas. Both buried in Roby Cem, Fisher Co. Texas. Her parents not known. 1850 census, Lawrence Co. Tenn. shows her with sister Levina and brothers William H., Berry W., Henry, living with Edward R. and Cynthia Freeman. William and Fredonia parents of: John Hiram, William T., Alexander J., James B., Elbert, Leonard, Maggie Vee, Willis, Faye and May (twins), possibly others. John Hiram born 4 Sept 1869, Bienville Par., married Virginia Alsada ? Children: Julian Orleans married Nellie ?; Horace A.; Cora Lee; Lorena; Richard Franklin married Ora ; Orphus York; Artie C. William T. (s/o William and Fredonia) born 1871, died 1946, Kleburg Co. Texas. Maggie Vee Evans born 26 May 1883, Minden La., died 13 Nov 1971, San Patricio Co. Texas, married J.E. WIECHARD, buried Rockport Texas. Willis Evans born 1888, Taylor Co. Texas married Callie Mae FRAZIER. Children: Norvell, Fern, Florine. Webb) EVANS, J.O. family John Calhoun Evans moved from South Carolina in the 1800s, headed for Beeville, Texas. He camped in Winn Parish and decided to stay in North Louisiana. His son Martin Bunyan Evans was born there. He attended one-room schools in Bienville and Natchitoches Parishes. He had a teacher, Delilah CLOUD, d/o Noah Cloud, whom he fell in love with and married. Six children, the last being John Owen Evans. John Calhoun Evans died at age 80, in 1951, Delilah in 1948. John Owen Evans married Constance COKER. Noah Cloud Sr., grandfather of Delilah Cloud built one of first houses in Hot Springs Ark. While traveling by wagon in search of a better home they camped with some friendly Indians and Noah fell in love with an Indian girl and married her, leaving his family. STREETMAN; Minerva Jane married James Edward SMITH; William Thomas married Louisa Jane WHITE; John B. married Lutricia HUCKABY; James Silas married Fanny YOUNGBLOOD and possibly James L. married Louisa Amanda WOODS. Elmira died 1864, John A. remarried to Mrs. Martha J. BEARD. He died ca 1878 at Sparta La. William S. Ridley Ann Evans (1843 Ga.) married Wade BARRINGTON (1821 S.C.) in 1874, Webster Parish La. Son Turner W. BARRINGTON born March 1883. Bernetta Letitia Evans (1845 Ga.) died at Dubberly La. Married John Alexander GAMEL (6 Jan 1827 Lincoln Co. Ga) 30 Jan 1868. Children: John Alford Gamel (1870-died age 5); Florence Gamel (1872) married J.W. MONZINGO; Alonzo Bruce Gamel (1874-1965) never married; Susan Ann Gamel (1876-1884); Egbert Evans Gamel (1879-1884); William Taylor Gamel (29 Sept 1882- buried Shreveport) married Mary Jane KNIGHTON 1 Oct 1891. William Thomas Evans (1851 White River Arkansas - Jamestown La 1936) Married Louisa Jane WHITE (1856-1946) Children: Millie Paline Evans (1875-1898) married Henry W. COOK; Daisy Viola Evans (1877-1896) married E.B. McGRAW; Geneva Deville Evans (1878-1964) married Henry W. COOK; Walter Alto Evans (1880- 1951) married Alma GRIFFITH. Belton H. Evans, s/o William Thomas and Louisa White Evans was born in Belton Texas in a covered wagon. He died Bienville Parish 15 June 1961, buried Mt. Olive Cem. Married Lillie Bertha SMITH 8 Feb 1905. (Much information on later generations of this family.) EVANS, Ryanie Oyrane Basil Harrison Evans came to America from South Wales. Settled in Ky., and later Camden Ark., finally settling in Jamestown La. His son, Barzilly, married Sophronie WOOD. They had Dallas Evans. Dallas married Ola SHAW and had two sons , Delois and Oyrane David. Oyrane David is the father of the author. (remainder of article concerns living persons.
