A photocopy of it was sent to my family by Emma Lou's niece, Mildred Huckabay. Mildred sent this in 1989. She lived in Coushatta, LA. This account was written in longhand on a sheet of ledger paper. It begins with a list of family birth and death dates. Her Dad was Amos Forehand. Her mother was a Pierce* before she married Amos Forehand. Mother was Laura Elizabeth Giddings before she married Dad Andrew Jackson Huckabay. Her Dad was James Giddings. Her mother was a Trice. Her mother was a Winn. Her mother sister [sic] was named Emmie Trice. Her Dad had one brother William giddings, he never married. (had a big Hardware Store in Memphis, Tennessee.) Dad was born at Talbert, Georgia.(Mother was born at Columbus, Georgia.) Dad family came to La in covered wagons and others came at the same time. Mother Dad and Mother came by boat to New Orleans. Spent a month. Came by boat to Camden, Ark. Later they came to Monroe, La. Her father and mother in lived on the C---h---a---n ** plantation. Grandpaw overseed the plantation. Moved to Red River Parish up on Black Lake; so did the Huckabay family. -----settled in Red River Parish ----- -----. Dad and Mother met and married in Red River Parish after the Civil War. ******************************************************************* * nearly illegible ** Evidently she did not recall the spelling of the plantation.She just indicated a few letters with gaps between them where the other letters should go. NB James Giddings was aka Erastus Giddings/Giddens. Notes* Erastus Giddens and Adaline Trice were married in Talbot Co. GA. on Dec. 22, 1846. Also, from _Alphabetical Roll of Official Records of the Individual Confederate Soldier, volume 2_, G, page 15: Giddings, Erastus, Pvt. Co. E, 5th La. Cav. Appears on roll of Prisoners of War, Paroled Natchitoches, June 6, 1865. Res, Bienville Par., La. Nancy and James J. Huckabay were residents of Bienville Parish in 1860. There is also a Nancy "Huckeby" in Bienville Parish in the 1870 census. Sharon Hofer
