Sutton Elected State Representative
(Ringgold Record, Friday, October 19, 1956)

Fletcher Sutton, Gibsland mayor, was elected state representative
Tuesday, defeating C.L. McCrary, Arcadia businessman, 2,030 to 1,784.

The special election had been called to fill the seat left vacant when 
Lorris Wimberly was named director of public works.

Sutton received the majority of votes in wards two, three, five, and
seven. McCrary carried wards one, four, and six. No date has been announced
for the official seating of the new Representative.
