Last Monday, at about noon a heart-rending accident occurred in our place. Washing was being done at Mr. L.P. Butler’s; Mrs. Butler had prepared dinner, and as they were ready to eat the meal, she inquired for her baby, of her little boy, in whose charge she had left it, and he told her he had left it at the wash tub in the yard. She ran out and found her darling babe and only girl -–little Lillie Fouts – drowned in the tub. Mr. Butler caught her in his arms and ran to Dr. Pollard with her, but she was beyond resusitation (sic). – Gibbsland New Era. # # #
