Funeral services for Mrs. S. T. Bates, 76, of Shreveport, La., were held 10:30 
p.m., Saturday, April 4, 1992, at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Castor, La.  
Rev. Roger Gill & Rev. Gene Cagle officiated.  Burial site was held at Ebenezer 
Cemetery under the direction of Rockett Funeral Home in Ringgold, La.

Mrs. Bates died April 2, 1992 in Shreveport.  She was born in Castor, La., on 
October 21, 1915.

She leaves to cherish memories one son, Tommy Smith of Saline, La.; two 
daughters, Nancy Laning of Shreveport and Mary Catherine Cobb of Saline, La.,; 
one brother, Bill Basinger of Saline, La.; three sisters, Gladys Dawsey of Lake 
Charles, La., Merior Sullivan of Ashland, La., and Annie Jean Robinette of 
Shreveport, La.; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.




Additional Comments:
Mrs Bates was the daughter of Daniel Love BASINGER & Nancy Parlee RIGDON 
BASINGER.  She was married to William Thomas SMITH, who is buried with her. My 
relatives remember her name as simply "S.T.".
