Herbert Kelley of Barksdale Field, collided on a bridge about a half mile east of Taylor. Carter died in the Minden sanitarium about 1:30 p.m. without having regained consciousness. According to report made following investigation of the accident, a car ahead of the Carter truck had stopped on the bridge and the driver had fixed a flat tire, and apparently as Carter started to drive around the parked automobile, Kelly pulled out to drive around the truck striking the rear end of it. The impact of the collision threw Mr. Carter from his truck onto the highway. The automobile was badly damaged, but Sgt. Kelly was uninjured. The truck driven by Carter is owned by Wiley Reno of Gibsland, logging contractor. Funeral services were held for Mr. Carter Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Taylor Baptist Church with Rev. M. Reeves, pastor of the Taylor church, officiating. Burial was in Woodard Cemetery. The deceased is survived by his widow and four daughters; also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Carter.
