DEATH OF NEWTON CASKEY

Much sympathy goes out to the family of Mr. P. Caskey, in the unestimable loss 
they have sustained in the death of their spendid young son and brother.  
Newton Caskey, who died on Monday night at the home of this parents.

Death in any form is appalling, but when the dread messenger calls from the 
active walks of life, a young man with a life of promise ahead of him, it is 
sad indeed.  Mr. Caskey was born and reared near Arcadia and was a student of 
this school a few years ago.  His High School career as an athlete will be 
remembered by his school friends here, with whom he was very popular.

He was taken ill at Sibley, where he was employed by the oil company, and 
suffered an attack of influenza, followed by pneumonia.

He came home and it was hoped that the good nursing of his parents and other 
excellent attention would help him overcome his illness.  He grew steadily 
worse and the end came on.

Interment took place at the Alabama Cemetery.  The funeral was conducted by 
Rev. H. L. Michael.  Quite a number of HIgh School boys and other friends and 
relatives attended the service.

Mrs. Caskey and several members of the family are ill, having crtracted the 
disease, since Newton came home.

Additional Comments:
Newton Caskey was the son of Jefferson Pargoud Caskey [1861-1924] and Fannie 
L. Houston [1860-1904].  The Mrs. Caskey mentioned in the obituary is Newton's 
step-mother, Martha Caskey [1883-1929].
