Headline: Funeral Services Held for Guy Murphy

Funeral services for Durwood Guy Murphy, age 63, of Jamestown, were held at 
10:00 a.m. Friday, May 4, in the Bienville Baptist Church.

Rev. Victor Kelley, Rev. J. D. Thompson and Rev. Bentley Massingill conducted 
the services. Burial was in the Old Sparta Cemetery near Bienville, under the 
direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Mr. Murphy, a veteran of World War II, was a retired employee of the Louisiana 
Highway Department.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Edrie Murphy of Jamestown, one daughter, 
Mrs. Nelda Smith of Jonesboro; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Upshaw of Jamestown 
and Mrs. Ruby McNerney of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; one brother, Reo Murphy of 
Jamestown; four grandchildren also survive.
