During the early months of her sickness she did not suffer violently all the time, but the short respite so obtained only gave rise to a delusive hope, soon to be blasted by a return of all her agonizing tortures. Temporary loss of respiration which at intervals visited the scene like a ghost, now advancing, now retreating, beckoning the ebbing soul to eternity with its treacherous guileful soothing, at last quieted the sufferer’s anguish, then gently left her in the arms of death. When asked if she was willing to die, she said “Oh yes if it is the Lord’s will I am perfectly willing to go.” Then calling to her bedside those of her children who were present she asked them to pray and said "I am now about to leave you and though death has no terrors yet it grieves me to part from you." And thus passed away one who will long be remembered not only by her relatives and friends but by all who knew her.
