  CULLEN, LA. -- Funeral services for MRS.RUBY ORR SLOCUM, 86, will be held at 
2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at the Bailey Mortuary Chapel in Springhill, 
with REV. SIR RUPERT NICHOLS officiating, assisted by REV. KENNETH STANFILL. 
Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery.
  MRS. SLOCUM, a lifelong resident of this area, passed away Friday, Jan. 9, 
1998 in Marrero after a sudden illness. She was a member of the Cullen 
Assembly of God Church. She was a homemaker and former employee of 
International Paper Company.
  She was preceded in death by her husband, ALFRED BARNEY SLOCUM (Jan. 19, 
1976).
  She is survived by daughters: ROCHELL NICKERSON TEAGUE of Springhill, RAMONA 
NICKERSON DEAN and her husband, HAROLD of Marrero; sisters: IVA DEE DUNN and 
MILDRED MIMS, both of Cullen; grandchildren: RANDAL TAGUE, BRENDA THRASH, 
RONNIE DEAN, WILLIAM TEAGUE, LADONNA LEBLANC, KENNETH DEAN, SUSAN WALDRON; 
great-grandchildren, ASHLEY, AMBER, TIFFANI, JAMISON, JONATHAN, CHRISTOPHER, 
JUSTIN, ADAM, TORI and BLAKE.
  Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
