W. R. ELLIOTT to M. R. DELOACH - May 13, 1861 Additional Comments: J. W. R. Elliott was the eldest son of Isaac and Winny (Rogers) Elliott, who located in the area of what is now Red River - Bienville Parishes, in 1854. Isaac and Winny Elliott had 10 children they brought with them by wagon train and flatboat. The Elliotts were natives of Anson, N. C. However, some of the children were born in Chesterfield, S. C. J. W. R. Elliott died of measles at Camp Delhi while serving in the Confederate army, and was the first burial in the Holley Springs Cemetery in Red River Parish.
