A. R. THOMPSON is the sheriff and tax collector of Bossier coming to
Bossier Parish in 1858, where the death of the former occurred in 1881, his
widow being still alive and in good health, aged about sixty-five years.
Mrs. Thompson was born in South Carolina, and died in the month of June,
1887,  at Bellevue, La., in her thirty-third year, having borne four
children, one son and two daughters now living, viz.:  William A., Lila A.
and Mamie A. Thompson.  In addition to farming, Mr. Thompson has managed a
warehouse on Red River, but discontinued these callings in 1880, being
elected to the position of clerk and ex officio recorder of this parish,
serving by re-election until November, 1889, when he was appointed sheriff
to fill the unexpired term of R. E. Wyche.  Mr. Thompson has been
reasonably successful in all his business operations, and is now the owner
of 2,090 acres of land in different tracts, all the result of persistent
and intelligent labor.  Socially, he is a worthy member of the A. F. & A.
M., Cypress Lodge No. 89, of Benton, having been master of the same for
some time, and also belongs to the K. of P. at Dixie, and the A. L. of H.
Bellevue Lodge No. 1120.
