This entire community was shocked and truly grieved in the death of Mrs. Mollie Keeth, widow of the lamented J.P. Keeth-reported in last week's issue of the Banner. Mrs. Keeth accompanied by Mrs. Edna Collins, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Collins and their two children left town for Shreveport about ten o'clock Thursday morning of last week. As reported, it seems Mr. Collins, who was driving the car, sounded his claxon and attempted to pass a truck driven by a negro, at a point about seven miles out from Shreveport, on the Benton road. Whether the negro heard or not is not yet known. At any rate, the car was crowded off the entire road and turned over once and half over again, crushing Mrs. Keeth under the car in mud and water, killing her almost instantly. Mr. Collins is suffering from a broken collarbone and dislocated shoulder. Frank, jr., has his face badly cut and nose broken and the little eleven month old baby, Mary Edna, also is suffering from cuts and bruises. The accident was terrible, and the entire town has been and is, grieved over the departed, and keenly anxious over the injured, who have a host of devoted friends throughout this section. The funeral services of Mrs. Keeth were held last Saturday morning at the Presbyterian Church (which church is being used by the Methodists until the new building is completed) being conducted by Rev. T.J. Holladay, assisted by Rev. A.J. Bonnette and Rev. H. J. McGehee. There were present of host of friends, who sorrowfully followed the beloved body to Plain Dealing Cemetery, where it was interred. The pallbearers were Messrs. M.S. Bolinger, S.H. Cochran, Morris Emmons, Ben Turnley, Leon Sanders and J.F. Lyon.
