Galveston Daily News, 27 April 1886:

Shreveport, April 26. – News was received here tonight that Deputy
Sheriff Adger Ellison, of Bossier parish, was thrown from his horse
yesterday, on Cypress bayou bridge, four miles from Benton, and so
seriously injured that his death is expected at any moment.
