Bixler, died at her home near Plain Dealing August 28th. at 10:35 p.m. after an illness of several months. Mrs. Bixler was born June 11, 1818, near Clinton, Louisiana in East Feliciana Parish. Her maiden name being, Brown, and the daughter of Thomas Brown and Mary Hays Brown. She was 78 years,2 months and 14 days old when she departed this life. Mrs. Bixler was joined in holy wedlock to John B. Bixler, March 10th. 1844, with whom she lived happily. They had born to them four children, three of whom survive: Dr. John B. Bixler Jr. of Desoto Parish, Thomas Benton Bixler and Mary Alice Bixler Kirtley both of Plain Dealing. Mrs. Bixler joined the Methodist Episcopal Church South in 1885 of which she lived a consistent member and was a Charter Member of said churh. Her life was an unassuming one, being devoted to her family and those immediately around. She was a kind neighbor, and close friend. Thus has passed away one of the oldest members of this community. May the Lord, who has blessed them with a long happy life together, comfort the bereaved husband and loved ones, and grant them a glorious reunion in Heaven. -- (Note from submitter -Lydia Ann Brown Bixler is buried in Salem Cemetery in Plain Dealing next to her husband John B.
