Plain Dealing, Louisiana~October 25,1922 Thomas Benton Bixler,69, died near here at 2 o'clock A.M. Wednesday morning. He had been in failing health for five years, but was feeling so well yesterday that he remarked he thought he would go fishing Wednesday. During the night he suffered a heart attack and his death occurred at 2 a.m. Mr. Bixler was born in East Baton Rouge Parish March 16, 1853 and came to Bossier Parish 25 years ago. He is survived by his wife, four sons and two daughters and one sister, Mary Alice Bixler Kirtley. The funeral will be held Thursday morning with burial near Red Land. One of Mr. Bixler's sons, Schumpert Bixler, lost his sight recently in an oil field accident. -- (*Note from submitter: Thomas Benton Bixler was the son of John Barclay Bixler & Lydia Ann Brown Bixler. His wife, whom he married March 4, 1879 was Mary Hannah Durden Bixler and his 4 sons were: Willie Durden Bixler of Oklahoma, John Andrew Bixler of McKinney, Texas, Thomas Clifford Bixler of Wylie, Texas and Robert Schumpert Bixler of Plain Dealing, LA. His 2 daughters were: Clio Edith Bixler McCary of Baytown, Texas and Mary Katherine Bixler Bryce of Plain Dealing, La. Thomas Benton Bixler was a clerk in Plain Dealing.
