All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** * ~Bossier Banner News~ 19 Jan. 1946 -Beloved Christian Character Summoned To Her Reward On 2nd.- A death notice, telling of the passing of a life-long resident of Bossier Parish, which is to appear in tomorrow's issue of the Plain Dealing Progress reads: Mrs. Henry D. Bounds, a life-long resident of this Community, was called to her reward Wednesday afternoon of last week, the 2nd.. Mrs. Bounds had been taken to a Shreveport Sanitarium following a stroke on the 1st. This splendid woman had just thirty days previous celebrated with her husband their 59th. wedding anniversary. She was the daughter of Abraham Rodgers, of the Mot Community, both deceased. Her husband, who was a native of Alabama, migrated to Bossier Parish more than 80 years ago, their marriage occuring December 2, 1886. To this union 13 children were born, 11 of whom are still living. Those surviving are: Mrs. L. H. "Bertha" Kirkland, Mrs. Jack (Ita Hazel) Compton, & Mrs. H.L. (Cora Mae) Alderman, all of Shreveport; Mrs. J.W. (Clara) Bass of Rocky Mount; Mrs. T.E. (Nettie Lou) Cason of Plain Dealing, & Mrs. L.L. (Mary Elizabeth) Cook of Springhill; 5 sons: Belve Bounds of Los Angeles, Ca., James Henry Bounds of Plain Dealing, Ben F. Bounds of Shreveport; Thomas B. Bounds of Rocky Mount, & Henry Dosson Bounds Jr. who is still in the Armed Forces. Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon in the Rocky Mount Presbyterian Church at three o'clock, services being conducted by Rev. Jack Cooke, of the local Methodist Church, assisted by U.S. Army Chaplain, L.A. Carrington and Rev. Jeff Holladay, who had served as Mrs.Bounds' Pastor for seven years. Interment was in the Church Cemetery Pallbearers were: Messrs. W.E. & J.J. Waggoner, Jack Dexter, O.C. Coleman, Doyle Sanders & W.N. McKellar. Submitter~Kay McMahan My Note-Mrs. Henry D.
