Dudney Buried Here Last Monday Pioneer Resident And Local Merchant Succumbs To Paralysis Stroke Here Sunday Night The grim monster that we call death visited our community last Sunday at the midnight hour, and claimed from our midst, Mr. John T. Dudney, 63 year old life-long resident and retired marchant and business man. Mr. Dudney had been suffering from paralysis the past three years, and was taken suddenly sick with an attack of the malady last Sunday morning, passing away that night. He had been all but an invalid since his first stroke of paralysis. He was at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Dewitt Wells and family here at the time of his demise. He had resided with the Wells Family the past four years. He was an uncle to Mrs. Wells and a distant cousin of Mr. Wells. John T. Dudney was born near Brushy Community in this Parish in 1871, the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Dudney. He was, for a number of years, prominent in the mercantile business here, having retired on account of ill health several years ago. He was a member of the local Baptist Church and also a member of the local Woodmen of The World. He was popularly known throughout this entire section, and has scores of friends and acquaintances who deeply mourn his passing. Funeral services were held from the Plain Dealing Baptist Church last Monday afternoon. Last rites were conducted by Rev. M.M. Hall, his Pastor, and Rev. Ernest Scott, his former Pastor, assisted by Rev. P.B. McCullin, and Rev. M.M.Miller, local Methodist and Presbyterian Pastors, respectively. A large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives were in attendance. Business activities in Plain Dealing were practically suspended during the funeral service. An array of beautiful floral offerrings draped the casket which held his remains. Interment was in the Plain Dealing Cemetery. The deceased is survived by one sister, Mrs. N.N. (Elizabeth) New and his step-mother, Mrs. Mattie Evans both of Plain Dealing, and a host of other near relatives, most of whom also reside here. -- (**Note from submitter- John T.
