            At his residence, in this Parish, on the 27th. instant, Mr. Newsome 

Andrew Durden, age 53 years, and 8 months. 

            Newsome Andrew Durden was born-June 1826 in Bibb Co. Ga. and 

came to Bossier Parish Louisiana in 1849 and settled in Bellevue on 

Bodcau Bayou. He was the son of Washington Durden & Hannah Hall Durden 

of Bibb Co. Ga. He married Elizabeth Rebecca "Becky" Young in Georgia in 

1848. Newsome Andrew Durden was survived by 1 son. George Washington 

Durden and 3 daughters: Mary Hannah, Rebecca Elizabeth Ann "Lizzie" , & 

Francis Lenora Durden. Newsome Andrew Durden was buried in Durden 

Cemetery on the homeplace in Bellevue on Bodcau Bayou. His wife, Becky 

Durden preceded him in death in 1871 and she is also buried Durden 

Cemetery.
