All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** * ~Bossier Banner News~3 June 1948 -Mrs. Pearl Grigsby, of Shreveport, Is Claimed By Death on May 23rd.- Many residents of Bossier Parish were grieved to learn of the passing of Mrs. Pearl Grigsby, of Shreveport, who died at a sanitarium in that city on Sunday, May 23rd. The remains were laid at rest the following day in the Durden family burial place, near Bellevue, with Rev. Buchanan, of Shreveport officiating.. Her death followed an illness of three weeks. The deceased, who was 68 years old at the time of death, was the widow of C.H. Grigsby. She was born at the Durden old place, two miles north of Bellevue, and was a Granddaughter of Newsome Andrew Durden and daughter of George Washington Durden (known to their wide circle of friends as "Newt" & "Wash" Durden. Mrs. Grigsby was for many years a member of the Baptist Church and was known and admired as a conscientious Christian, ever generous, kindly and loveable. She will be missed by many. Among the surviving near relatives are two sisters, and one brother: Mrs. Carrie Gregory of Bellevue, Miss Mattie Durden of Shreveport and Mr. Ben Durden of Bellevue. Also these several nieces and nephews: Mr. Fred Gregory of Baxterville, Miss.; Mr. George Gregory of Bellevue; Mr. W.B. Gregory o Shreveport; MIss Elizabeth Gregory of Hollywood, Calif.; Mr. Wayne Gregory of Princeton; and Mrs.Carrie May Gregory Cunningham also of that place.
