All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** -- "Mrs. Matlock Dies At Ripe Old Age At Her North Bossier Home" Many North Bossier residents this week mourn the passing of Mrs. John Roger Matlock (Parthenia Susan Rodgers), widow of the late John Roger Matlock, a well known Bossier Parish citizen. Mrs. Matlock, who was 84 years of age, passed away Tuesday (March 5, 1935) of last week, following an attack of pneumonia. The funeral services were held the following morning, at 10 o'clock, at Walkers Chapel Church, under the direction of the Norton Funeral Home of Haynesville. She was one of the oldest members of Walkers Chapel Methodist Church. The Rev. T.J. Holladay, Methodist Pastor of Eunice. and Rev. P.B. McCullin, Pastor of the North Bossier Methodist Circuit, conducted the services. Interment was in the family plot of Walkers Cemetery, in this Parish. This good woman, known by many as "Grandma", and who will be missed by so many loved ones and friends, is survived by the following relatives: Four sons: John Jr., & Robert Emmitt Matlock of Plain Dealing, Grover Matlock of Shreveport and Charles Matlock of Shongaloo, La. Three daughters: Mrs. Nolan (Margaret) McKinney of Rocky Mount, Mrs. W.E. "Bud" (Arminta) Coyle of Springhill, and Mrs. Riley (Ida) Hatcher of Shreveport,La. Forty nine Grandchildren, and 47 Great-Grandchildren. Her eldest Grandsons served as Pallbearers.
