Cardin - Bossier Parish Historian J. J. ROBERSON DIES AT HIS HOME AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS YESTERDAY MORN In the death of Mr. John J. Roberson, of the Carterville Community, North Bossier sustained the loss of one of its most prominent and beloved citizens. Mr. Roberson passed away at his home at 7:30 o'clock yesterday morning, after a short illness. A chronic heart ailment was responsible for his death. Mr. Roberson was 82 (sic) years of age, and until a short time ago, able to be up and about attending to business. He had a long and useful life in North Bossier, and numbered his friends by the score in all walks of life. It is with sincere regret that the Banner here chronicles the passing of another friend of so many years standing. His passing will bring tears to many eyes, and his place will be, indeed, hard to fill. Funeral services were held today, at two o'clock, at the Red Land Church, Rev. N. L. Eddy, pastor of the Buckner, Ark. Baptist Church, and Rev. J. P. Oliver, pastor or the Ida Baptist Church, conducted the last rites. Interment was in the old Salem Cemetery. A great concourse of friends and loved ones gathered to honor in death a man who in life received the love, admiration and friendship of so many. Mr. Roberson is survived by his widow, Mrs. Helen May Roberson; three sons, Jack Roberson, of Edinburg, Texas; Gid Roberson, of San Juan, Texas, and Paul Roberson, of Plain Dealing; seven daughters, Mrs. Addie Adams, of Calvert, Texas; Mrs. Viola Hoss Holmes, of Hosston, Mrs. Ola Holand, of Harlinger, Texas, and Mrs. Jena Dodson, Mrs. Nodie Farrington, Mrs. Lillie Matlock and Mrs. Pearlie Blanton, of Plain Dealing; and 49 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren--also one sister, Mrs. Mattie (sic) Watkins of Bradley, Ark. The active pallbearers, who are nephews of the deceased, were Alfred Farrington, Aswell Farrington, Clines Matlock, David Matlock, Morris Roberson and Glenn Dodson. Honorary pallbearers were John J. Doles, F. Mays, Dr. T. N. Keoun, Dr. R. Butler, Johnnie Walker, Elmer Walker, Johnnie Waggoner, Arthur Turnley, Doug McKellar, Ben Turnley, J. T, Manry, Sid Caldwell, Jr., Frank Garrett, Tom Caldwell, L. H. Padgett, George Nelson, Bill McKellar, J. S. Dodson, C. C. Farrrington, John W. Hudson, Pike Hall, Marion Johnson, , Jim Keoun, Sam Goodwin, Dr. W. F. Bell, James L. Butler, Frank Alluma, Edgar Allums, John Adair, Green Allen, J. Q .Adams, A. W. Deirner, Gage Malone, J.C.
