He was born in Stewart Co. Ga. December 26, 1836. He came with his father to Louisiana in 1849. Mr. Young joined the Missionary Baptist Church early in life, and was a consistent member to his death. He was a member of the 5th. Alabama Regiment, volunteering his service at the beginning of the War in 1861, and served to the end of the same. Six children survive him. "We shall not weep, because his life stands as a monumental epitaph inscribed to the virtue, morality and sobriety of paternal integrity. About his grave cluster our sweet memories of the intrinsic worth of our kind and thoughtful father. We submit it all to Him who doeth all things well; for we know it is all right."
