James was my great-grand father and youngest son of George Remer & Mary Ann (GILLEY) YOUNG. He was the youngest brother of Elizabeth Rebecca "Becky" Young-Durden. This photo had a handwritten note on the back that it was to be sent to his son, Frank Benton Young in the Philipine Islands where he was serving in the U. S. Army during the Spanish American War. James was in the 1850 census, Bellevue, Bossier Parish where the family had just moved. He was listed as Ellis, 10 years old. During the Civil War, James was in the CSA Louisiana Cavalry.
