The larger photo contained his second wife, Bettie, and some of her relatives. Additional Comments: Grandpa YOUNG was my great-grandfather. He was born 10 April 1840 in Twiggs County, Georgia. In 1849, the family started for the California gold fields and had a layover in Bossier Parish and decided to stay. In the 1850 & 1860 censuses his birthdate is shown as 1840. From 1880 and forward, he listed his b'date as 1850. He was in the Louisiana Cavalry as were two brothers. He married Ioan Josephine MARSH on 6 August 1873 in Bellevue, Bossier Parish. Their only child, Frank Benton YOUNG was born 27 January 1879. His mother died shortly afterward. James moved to Miller County, AR and remained there the rest of his life. He died 30 August 1925 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. His sister< Nancy YOUNG-Strange lived with him taking care of Frank and tending his house.
