The following is a typed copy of the family records taken from a family bible once owned by John H. Rudder who lived in 
Caddo Parish, LA from sometime prior to 1850 to his death in 1868.  John H. Rudder was born in Virginia on March 27, 1810 
and died September 17, 1868.  We are not sure where he died but I am reasonably certain he died in Caddo Parish because 
most of his children did not leave Caddo Parish until 1875 when they migrated to Texas.  A daughter- in-law moved back to 
Caddo Parish where she died in 1923 and there was a Rudder who died young in Caddo Parish in 1920 so some family must 
have remained there after 1875.   The Bible was preserved through John H.'s daughter, Virginia T. Rudder.  Some of the later 
entries were made by either her or her descendants. This record was found with the records of the Pate Family of Delta County,
Texas.  Virginia T. Rudder's daughter married into the Pate Family.   John H. Rudder's wife, Miriam Turner Rudder died in 1863.
I also assume she died in Caddo Parish.  Can anyone tell me where I might find out if John H. and Miriam Turner Rudder died in
Caddo Parish for sure and where they might be buried? 

Family Records from the Bible of John H. Rudder Parents Record. Father. 
Jno. H. Rudder was born in the year 1810, March 27th. Mother. Miriam Rudder was born in the year 1810, Oct. 11.

Marriages. John H. Rudder and Miriam Rudder were married in the year 1833, December 12th. *B. K. Rudder and Sarah _____ Rudder 
were married in the year 180_, December 25th. 

Births. Alexander Rudder bas born in the year 1835, April 3rd. Lucy A. R. Rudder was born in the year 1837, March 13th. William 
E. Rudder was born in the year 1838, November 28th. Virginia T. Rudder was born in the year 1841, May 3rd. Benjamin J. Rudder 
was born in the year 1844, June 18th. Texannes Rudder was born in the year of our Lord, May 30th, 1850. This is to witness my

Deaths. Lucy A. R. Rudder departed this life 1837 May 11. Miriam Rudder departed this life in the year of our Lord 25th of Dec. 1863.
William E. Rudder departed this life in the (year) 1862 but I don't remember the day he got killed in the army of the Confercy a 
fighting the yankies. S. G. Dupree died Jan. 16, 1897. John H. Rudder died September 17, 1868. A. P. Rudder died 13 Oct. 1907.
Virginia Dupree died July 12, 1912 at Niwot, Texas.

 Notes on the above bible entries. The entry about "B. K. Rudder and Sarah ______ Rudder were married in the year 1805,
December 25"  is very difficult to read.  It looks like the ink ran and some of the words andnames are a blob and have been assumed. 
The initial K in the entry is a curvy kind of script and could easily be interpreted as a J.The name Sarah is not readable but if 
you let your mind wander one can see a Sarah there.  The 5 in the date 1805 is not readable. In the death section, William E. 
Rudder was killed during the Battle of Antietum (Sharpsburg) on September 17, 1862. The S. G. Dupre listed is the husband of 
Virginia T. Rudder and the Virginia Dupre is Virginia T. Rudder.  The A. P. Rudder listed is the Alexander Rudder in the birth section.
I might also add that the Dupre family that Virginia T. Rudder married into was also a Caddo Parish family.
